I'll have a bunch of free copies of a toy fan art zine. I am seriously greatful for the awesome artists who contributed to this project without hesitation. Huge thanks, you all are going to want to check out their work.
PHENOMENAL show. I’ll get photos edited and up, hopefully, by tomorrow night! Thank you, Paul, Melissa and Chica!!!
Amazing show always and I thought Paul was going to cry when he was talking about the zine! Taco vendor was different this year but food was still amazing! Thanks for all the work you all do Paul, Melissa, Chika and co! Excited for next year!
The contributors: The Crowd: Paul Kaiju: Spoiler A local Arizona collector's customs nails, choreographed with the event! And our very own @coma21 teamed up with Paul to bring us the Scum Doctor! Bwana Spoons: Spoiler Rampage Toys: Spoiler Yasu Ebinekoya, Kaori HInata, Grape Brain and Skulltula: Spoiler Top cats: Grapebrain, bottom frogs: Skulltula Top left: Yasu, top right: Kaori Hinata, bottom right girl: Hakuro UKY Daydreamer
Yasu = Grape and Kaori = Skull? And which is which? Love that little lidded frog. Hadn't noticed Utubokaeru before your spread. Thanks, Robert!
Four separate entities, actually. I unfortunately got very little sleep before I made it out to this event, which is usually the case me nightly anyway. So a lot of photos I took were heavily out of focus all around, of both the crowd and the booths. But I did label whose toy is located where, for what I knew, in each photo.
@xSuicide Squadx Thank you, Robert for giving some of us a chance to vicariously have visual access to the event. The crowd photo is great, my favorite actually, it captures PK in full effect in the midst of folks enjoying themselves. I can tell you had to heavily edit the slobber off the photo of those two Jon painted of Joe's characters!
Thank you guys! I’m glad the photos are serving as a bit of an inside look at what we were all very lucky to be in the presence of!!!
Thanks so much for the photo documentation @xSuicide Squadx ! I've got that summerslime, summerslime sadness that I didn't go. This is what the hobby should all be about; an opportunity to have fun and indulge yourself in the company of weirdos from all over
Totally coincidental the clear green Digglers made their way to the Rampage table. But a perfect match to PKs vinyl selection. @Paulkaiju congrats on the 10 year anniversary of the Boss, I’ve also loved all the sculptural variations to pop up over the last few years has been great. Regardless of trends, imho it was and remains one of the best and most important neo-kaiju designs. Here’s to the next 10!
As always, it was a real pleasure and a treat to attend this event. @xSuicide Squadx fantastic photos as always. Thank you and @Mutonismyfriend for taking the time to capture these moments of soft vinyl and people.
Great photos @xSuicide Squadx! It was such a great show, awesome to have something so close to home for me.
Wonderous photos Robert! Thank you for sharing! Looks like so much fun! I must admit I wish I could've adopted those beautiful sherbet Prenutes
It's been a few days rest and here comes the heat. It was so nice and perfect while Mr. Spoons and Rampage were here for quality beach and skate time. BIG THANKS! To all who made the trudge (SDCC or none...I think mostly none.) Bought toys, or just to visit. It means so much. I had been working on stuff for a few weeks and was happy everyone was so stoked and left with something they wanted considering the one offs were the first to go. Those Sorbet were very hard to make, and all the splits upon unmasking, I really enjoy the results. Very fun to make and I'm glad people get the "Vintage candy toy" vibe I'm trying to portray. That Boss book procured by David I'm still tucking-in my heart about it. Absolutely blown away. You really gotta see this. My work-life is relatively quiet most of the year then you see something like this. My soul was heightened. I really needed that. Big thanks to @xSuicide Squadx for photots and expert bagging skills, Melissa appreciates it as well! Next year for sure!!!! Same catering. The tacos rocked.
Every year just gets better and better. Thanks for always putting on such a memorable event. Your work is truly admired Paul!
@Paulkaiju Always a pleasure and lots of fun to dive into the tables behind the lens. You’re very much appreciated, as is the entire ensemble that collectively creates Summer Slime.
Absolutely mind boggling amazing. Love the sorbet boss as well as others. The zine is brilliant. Been traveling so I'm catching up but thank you for the posts.
Great thread capturing the moment. Always a very fun event with good people and good toys, a summer highlight for us.
