Description by Awesome Toys: We think this might be the first Missile Boobs on sofubi that works. We spend lot of time prototyping the missile parts. The missile can not shoot out, but u can simply attach and separate the missile easy. We are very happy of the result. Hope you will enjoy. Awesome Toy “MULAN” (ムーラン 0期) Pre-Release edition is a painted release. Price will be USD$100 each + shipping. Entry will be end by March 31th. Invitation sales only. We will send out email invitations to anyone who purchase our FAKE BARON keshi in the next few days.
Did you get your toy ? I've put a small order with them for the first time last week. I have yet to hear back from them.
These guys are shady as hell. I placed a pre-order with them 2 months ago, and not heard anything back, since. No confirmation e-mail after placing my order. I'm also getting no response from their contact e-mail adresses...wtf!
Whew~ I was gonna say, I've been buying from these guys for a long time, since before the whole "Awesome Toy" thing, and they've always come through! These guys are real toy aficionados
yeah, I think it is just that pre-orders generally take a long time (that, and as toy geeks, we are ever impatient for updates, I know!). AT is pretty good I think, there is just a high demand for pulling vinyl right now, so I think a lot of companies are backlogged. Even Medicom doesn't/can't necessarily come through exactly when their proposed shipping estimates are all the time; keep in mind these pre-order dates are set months in advance, so any number of things can come up inbetween time. We've all been there and played the waiting game, just something that comes along with this hobby.
... Well mine is not a pre-order. ^ Their system seems clunky as hell but Rei's comment is reassuring, though.
I was kind of surprised at that comment. I've had a few dealings with the Awesome Toy crew and they've always been super helpful and accommodating. It helps to exercise a little patience with this stuff now and again. How about a picture of one of their toys: View this post on Instagram
Ah, gotcha. I was responding more to the pre-order inquiry. Sorry to hear you were having problems. I did an order from them before, but it was before they set up their own website, so I haven't used the system. Hopefully you can get some help and/or feedback from them, and of course the toy you ordered. Did anyone actually get invites for the Mulan figure? You had to actually buy something else in order to get one, I gather, which I find pretty silly. Guess they are trying it as an alternative to a lottery, but anything that smack of 'exclusivity' or invite one generally turns me off. Which is a real shame, because I love what AT has been doing, and the Mulan figure seems really cool; though I would have really liked it if they made a bootleg version of Aphrodite A.
I totally understand the delays and problems inherent with the Sofubi game, but I am a patient person and will wait forever AS LONG AS THERE ARE REGULAR UPDATES. It doesn't cost anything and people will be grateful to know what is (or isn't) going on. PLEASE keep your customers updated.
The requirement was to buy the Baron keshi, which isn't a big price to pay for the privilege of buying Mulan. I think it's better than a lottery, because everybody who is truly interested can win, as opposed to a whole bunch of folks frivolously entering a lottery simply because they can (and it's free), decreasing the chances for those who truly want to win.
I thought people might want a head's up about this if they preordered a BARS figure from AT. I asked the other day on IG about the status of that figure (which was supposed to ship back in February, I think?). The comment was removed on IG and I received an email informing me they ran into some manufacturing troubles and were unsure when they'd be able to deliver the toy, so they were issuing me a refund. They sent it the next day, so that's all fine, but if anyone else here preordered one and is still waiting, you probably want to shoot them an email to get your refund, since it was the first I'd heard of it. If the toy's not coming out they should really be posting that publicly...
Really in love with MULAN Pachi origin: View this post on Instagram Latest version based on pachi: View this post on Instagram
Oh wow...I didn't realize that latest Mulan colorway was based on a bootleg. I'm honestly just waiting for an official Venus A version, but I wonder if AT will get in trouble for that. Oh, and that BARS thing is kinda crazy. I was sorta wondering why that project seemed to drop off the face of the earth...
Thanks Bryce, OG forever. Makes sense that this was based off a pachi figure, like the other AT releases, and I am really glad to see that they are going with a more traditional direction now colour-wise, but still would love the original tribute scheme most of all. I don't know if the likeness would really create that much of an issue, but could well be, it is certainly a larger 'brand' it seems than maybe the other characters, but not really less immediately recognisable for the 'source.' I would like to think there is enough creative license/freedom, but some licensees have been very funny in the past as well, particularly about controlling content for distribution outside of Japan. Major bummer about the BARS project. Since they are issuing refunds, seems like it might be bust more so than postponed, which is unfortunate (and a bit odd). Delays are one thing, but cancellation? They should have definitely let the folks who paid up front know though, without hunting them having to hunt down their money. I wouldn't mind waiting, tough as it is, but let me know the situation.
That's why I posted. Kinda lame if they aren't going to say anything until people ask. If the toy's cancelled or on indefinite hold while they figure things out, then you've gotta tell people that and give them back their money.
I think it was because Prometheum5 was the only collector who ordered one! Kidding... Don't get me wrong. I feel bad for them that a project they spent months prototyping and refining didn't get off the ground. I enthusiastically applaud their ingenuity, but I personally do not see a reason to spend money on that sculpt. Mulan, however, is a great addition to their lineup. The bootleg homage paint job is really nicely done. Sofubi with 'cheap toy' paint jobs like that always catch my eye for some reason -- I love the simplicity of it.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm totally willing to cop to that. I almost expected them to write me back to tell me it was canned because I was the only that bought one
