Great stuff Rei. Pretty cool having AT put a photo of your band in the tv. Be careful not to poke your eye out with those missile titties!
Yeah, photo is great Rei, I love it! Who know, while they might have learned from the BSG toys, they are a bit.... err, mesmerising...so you might just still poke out yer eye if you get sucked in too close. (It's all part of her eevul master plan as well as mine, to seize the opportunity to loot your toys)
Thanks Steve! Since she got here she's been chumming it up with Otus, although she doesn't know which pair of eyes to look at... and neither does he!
And .. I know awesome toy is heavily bent on 're interpreting' unlicensed figures and they are pretty cool but I would love to see something original from them, I mean even with the headers
Anyone know where on the planet I can come by Fake Spectreman #5 and 6? Besides Mandarake? None or YJA? Again none. Really want these guys and they were never available overseas from Medicom.
I haven't really seen these guys since they were originally released via medicom, but I remember a while back on instagram awesome toy had said they ran into licensing issues, and were no longer able to sell them internationally anymore... so I imagine that might have made the run size on these a lot smaller than previous releases, since they were made on a preorder basis.
That sucks, so basically I have to wait till someone gets bored with one and hope to catch the sale? Hmmm trade bait time?
The licensing issues are becoming more and more of a pain to figure out with these toys. Especially with the Medicom stuff. Sometimes they open it up via the Medicom international orders, then other times not at all (for the same series, mind). I mean, I know it is not their fault, but it can sure become frustrating trying to figure out all the hurdles and hoops on this end. @chimply.kaiju Oh wow. I needed a little pick me up toy thread, and this was it. Thank you so much, Anthony! I just love how she turned out, such a fantastic toy. Gorgeous shiny vinyl, and just the right tribute to the vintage that you could ask for; seems like a very well executed toy, which is just what I have come to expect from AT. And the added Booska missiles is a little stroke of genius. Very happy that someone on the board was able to land one of these WMD-bearing ladies; I hope to have a chance on the aftermarket. @scobot Boobskas is now a word I am integrating into the lexicon, thank you very much for that!!
Yeah and its always the best versions that get the JAPAN ONLY / overseas order ban. So I'm thinking Medicom just wanted the best versions as a treat for Japan and it had nothing to do with licensing. I really don't get it for Fake Spectreman #5 and 6?! They both are from a bootleg Brazillian comic from decades ago, how the fuck does that translate to Japan only? If anything it should be the opposite since they are unlicensed bootleg toys, patchi even- so they should not be subject to licensing since they are essentially "made up" new toys that have never been created and only existed outside Japan in a comic 40 years ago. So every bootleg Spectreman to date gets outside sales but not these? Hell even a US Artist did the headers! Head scratch to say the least.
Though they are inspired by bootlegs, all the Fake Spectreman releases have been officialy licensed by P-Pro. And I think the particular Brazilian comics were actually licensed. All the recent Spectreman releases through Medicom (since the 4-armed Bakura) have been Japan only. My guess is that Awesome Toy & Medicom have to pay more licensing rights for an international release... And those do not sell by the truckload... Mandarake will be your best lead I think.
Yes please, and please do not make these "Japan only". So is Toy Underground still a safe bet for Awesome Toy releases I assume?
That phantom release is apparently being done via email, based upon the Softoyhobby article I read. I'll be honest with you I haven't followed Awesome Toy that closely, but this release may change that.
