Damn, that fact that these glow is even more rad. At first during the development I was not all that excited by another version of Ogon Bat, but seeing what AT has done with their sculpt I think it came out wonderful. I particularly like the 'brain-like' sculpt of the skull, such a wonderful touch, and the detailed nose and mouth are really something - most skull unlike almost, which is totally why I dig it; and for me, this is an awesome addition to the AT lineup as well as any toy shelf. And club accessory is just such a great thing to include, makes it that much better. This is moving right up to a must-have now.
Did that Fiji Mermaid by Gorgoloid come out? I never saw anything about it anywhere after a few "coming soon" pics.
Yes they currently have 3 waves of blanks and a few painted pieces from different artist you can obtain.
The toughest thing is picking the right colorways. I try to limit myself to two each for AT stuff. I just got the SHE hulk Mulan to go with my Gold one. The red abd yellow colorway looks great though. I regret missing that one.
It's interesting that you say that as I tend to do something similar with elegab. Depending on how much I like the sculpt I will at most get three versions of it painted, unpainter, and some GID version. That for some reason to me seems like the best set of a sculpt you can get. Although lately with all the marbling going on i have been tempted to change to a rule of four when applying this idea to certain sculpts.
Why no mention of these? As a fan of almost anything Shining/Kubrick, to me this feels like a true fan's "vanity press" item. or is it just riding a pop culture icon to ensure sales to potential crossover DunneeeTM collectors? Either way, I like 'em... but am I the only one? "Come and play with us, Danny... forever..... and ever...... and ever."
Anyone know what's going on with those Phantom 2nd Bat glows? Paid almost 2 months ago and was told 3-4 weeks. Also double downed and paid for a Fake Spectreman #6 that was supposed to ship with this. Awesome Toy/ Toy Underground not responding at all.
well, I don't know if I'm tunring into a grumpy guy, bit honestly, sending an email is not such a big thing... I won the lottery for Utsugiyo, the figure was supposed to be sent late February and I've got an email from the guy saying it will be delayed and he is sorry for it. And I'm fine. With Awesome Toys, no news regarding the order, no reply to emails...
Yeah I can be a grumpy guy and I'm completely fine with it. I'm ok with people delaying texting and calling back but for some reason I get pretty annoyed when there is no response to a email- especially when money has been exchanged. I'm oldschool I guess. I mean how hard is it to just write- hey there has been a delay. I'd be completely satisfied with just a simple response. I only buy things online (whether it be records, toys, clothes, electronics -you name it) so constantly having to keep a running inventory of what I paid money for and what hasn't come in can get overwhelming. Definitely not trying to be a dick and I'm always polite when asking. I just expect people to be accountable.
It's business. It's customer service. And communication is always reasonable. Don't expect less. Re shipping, I was told "not yet, soon".
Well a SB member told me they got theirs a long time ago so I'm filing claims on paypal right now. Ridiculous.
Claim filled right now too... can't believe they actually have sent some figures and don't reply to emails...
I know I've had alarmist tendencies in the past but I mean what else am I supposed to make from this PM from a guy I'm friends with here and long time SB member (I know he would never make anything up! and I'm the one that mentioned the lottery to him): "I forgot to let you know I received the yellow Ogon Bat from Awesome Toy a while ago" I mean the original time frame from the lottery/pre order was 3-4 weeks to ship so end of January beginning of February since it took place end of 2016/ beginning of January. So it sort of makes sense he received his 'awhile' ago if those were the correct time frames. I mean I like Awesome Toy but A) Not responding to emails asking whats up. B) Someone else received theirs awhile ago C) Time frame given for shipment has long past (its been 2 months and tons of new toys since have popped up on their Instagram). What would anyone think? Impatient or not- looks suspect to me. I was directed to send payments via invoices for both toys to Toy Underground and I know these two are connected somehow so they can't really point fingers at each other.
Really?.. Hmm... I won 1 too and have yet to receive anything. I'll send over an email too. Hopefully they'll respond to one of us. I'd be wary about opening a claim yet. Shipping in waves is not uncommon and I'm not sure what all events they've been participating in lately that's demanded time, but a glance at their instagram suggests a few as well as a lot of projects at the moment. I don't want to chance winding up on their ban list by opening a claim if it's something as simple as a shipping issue. Not sure if Awesome Toy does that, but I know some that do... Edit: A little closer inspection : Posted to Awesome Toys' Instagram 1Week ago was this, View this post on Instagram "Mixing the 2nd bottle of clear yellow paint... If you have ordered our PHANTOM BAT 2nd, we are targeting to finish all the painting by the end of next week. Please be patient and thank you for your support!" So by that they were hoping to finish painting yesterday or this weekend. Edit ver 2.0: @Lixx, could your friend have gotten one from the Soft Vinyl Sydney show 2 weeks ago? It looks fairly similar : View this post on Instagram But man, ours is gonna be so pretty. View this post on Instagram
Well this will somehow sort itself out. I wish paypal was not so hardball with resolutions. I'm down with amicable solutions but paypal is not.
If it helps I am currently waiting for 10 toys. 7 of the 10 were ordered in January. It's just life as a collector. A dance of impulse and patience.
Lol definitely. So true. I'm currently waiting for a refund (which will take forever I'm sure) only to send part of the refund back for a item which is in stock and already paid for the first time! How is that for paypal's solution?! Was that or close both disputes and lose out on money and products. I would have been happy for refund on Phantom Bat and other item shipped but paypal would not let me do that!
If anyone becomes so upset with the wait for their pre-ordered Electric Ape that they decide they can't even bear to look at the toy any more, and plan to put it in the blender or set it on fire upon arrival... please let me know. I am here to help you. (Not to minimize any of the very legit frustration here about Awesome Toys apparently very lackluster communications. Just my terrible way of jumping in and saying, speaking of AT preorders, I am aching to have missed the one for Electric Ape and really, really want one.)
Posted on Awesome Toy Facebook today about an hour ago: PHANTOM BAT 2nd update. All the orders will be ship out tomorrow! Sorry for the delay.
^Looks like it to me @scobot I'm happy to report I received a full refund from Awesome Toys/Toy Underground today so some lucky person surely will be offered the Phantom Bat. I appreciate Awesome Toys for doing that (the refund) and obviously they will want to put the extra in the hand of a fan that appreciates it. They do make great toys, so props to them.
I know Awesome Toy personally and you don't need to worry. I think they were produced in waves and I assume Chinese New Year slowed things down. CNY pretty much destroys productivity on this side of the world for a few weeks.
