KILLING ME! These are all absolutely bonkers pieces! From Jon's Instagram: ......and Aqua-Butt X here is just brilliant!
PLEASE tell me Aqua Butt is that one’s actual name...!?! It’s some serious torture seeing all of these amazing pieces from so far away!
I don't think so- but it should be! Heres my choice favorites- maybe one day they will fall into my collection! These new cat heads are phenomenal! LOVING this brain sculpt!!
Lol. I agree! The cat head and brain head are favorites for sure. And there were some rad looking Hag-Xs strewn about the images I was lucky enough to see.
Yeah it's nice to see that Akamatsu is painting some of Jons Hags! The new arms on them work really well too! Especially that plasma looking arm on the one that I posted above
Some more pics of the new head sculpts, etc- blocked out the usernames cause I don't think they are on here (I will happily rectify this if they choose and give credit where credit is due) Sorry for some blurry pics- from a quick video, but you can just see the absolute insanity of all of these pieces! Gahd Dang!!!!!! 2020 is the year of SHB! IN LOVE with this Corn-Cob Creature!!!!!!
Absolutely! While I am not a major fan of those body sculpts, I certainly do appreciate them and the heads are all interchangeable within the SHB/Wombat/Karzworks universe (for the most part)!
The show was crazy. I totally forgot to tell Akamatsu that Triclops didn’t want any more Rotten-X made (or is it Zectron... whatever), so it was cool to see a few of those heads in the mix! edit/also: Clutter Gallery will host Akamatsu again this July.
*mind blown* I probably picked up the first dozen or so of this line and then dumped 'em to help fund a trip . . . as much as I love the diversity, it feels like it was a bullet dodged! Bought the catalogue/book last year and the number of different sculpts back then was crazy . . . and this latest show looks like a whole bunch more have been thrown into the mix too!
I can't imagine it being a sell-out show - with the quantity of pieces and SHB's relative non-hype status (yeah yeah he's great Marmit respect etc etc but really you don't see repost gangbangs on instagram over his stuff do ya?). Hopefully this is just when the crowd started to die off and these mules asked if they could buy up a chunk of stuff. If this purchase was made while people were still waiting in line then that's some dog shit
Two of my newest from Akamatsu. Clutter were offering these at an Anime convention and a friend kindly notified me. Love the "bootleg toy" style paint application with the silver oversprays, really brings out the creep factor on this already creepy headsculpt. "Jonny-X" the headsculpt is inspired by what Jagi from Fist of the Northstar looks like under his helmet. This guy has a unique and brightly colored internal spray going on. Really like that new slime-tendril arm! "Glutton-X" this headsculpt is inspired by the giant titan from Attack on Titan.
These guys give off a Hideshi Hino vibe: And the one in the middle- is he MARBLED?! I have never seen a marbled SHB X body. I'm assuming it isn't and its just a really crazy paint application.
Update for fans waiting for the Kappa style Venus X by Skullheadbutt. I had hoped that this special release could be made, however, the "artist" handling the agreement abruptly backed out of all our contractual business agreements and therefore cheated us all out of that release and five other dolls that were part of our contractual agreements. Sorry for that. Thanks, to fans who enjoyed Venus X. I made that the year Ray Harryhausen passed away. It was a tribute to his War of the World's Martian design, ironically rejected by the folks that made that film War of the Worlds. I always thought it looked like a Kappa. Oh well, if Ray got shit on, who am I to complain. It's an honor to be treated with same disregard.
Dang. Venus X is a favorite of mine and underused as far as SHB head sculpts go. I hope to find a blank and the 2020 lucky bag "thrash-out" colorway some day. For those interested in its origins, heres Ray Harryhausen's original stop-motion test footage and sketches for the Venus martian invader:
Yes - he got permission to do some Hino stuff new for that show. Also - yes - just a Crazy paint application. But, hey, what do I know
