All you motherfuckers are gonna pay. You are the ones who are the ball-lickers. We're gonna fuck your mothers while you watch and cry like little, whiny bitches. Once we get to Hollywood and find those Miramax fucks who is makin' the movie... we're gonna make them eat our shit, then shit out our shit, and then eat their shit that's made up of our shit that we made 'em eat. Then all you mother fucks are next. Love - Jay and Silent Bob.
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this latest Gama is the only TKoM toy on glitter/pearl vinyl.
For me it all depends upon the color vinyl used as well as the paint apps. So it's usually a must have or a complete pass for me in some cases.
With you there. But have on many occasions been surprised with how much better they are in person than in his photos... The last couple colourways especially so.
I ve seen that. I think this dragon is a cool toy but wouldn't pay $2k for any toy. I think pricing toys that high kinda miss the all point of toys. Anyway, very unlikely I would win the lottery if I were to enter.
Love this sculpt, and it is a huge piece, but that price is raising the ceiling too high. Would’ve like to see it come in comparable to the demo, oh well.
Looks heavily inspired by one of my favorite toys, the Nakayoshi Elburn. Funny, no one seemed to ever give a shit about the Elburn, who knows how few are out there because they just didn’t sell.
Wonder how much is gallery commission and if that factors into it. That pricetag is for clowns but really what’s new?
He is selling on his site, right? Either way I feel like this is testing the waters on how high he can push it. The ~$300 was very high end, this is off the charts. It stinks because I like his style but $2k buys a lot of other toys!
I guess the price tag is based on it's size (It's in the middle of being a toy and a sculpture) and yeh I definitely think the gallery would be taking some commission. But yeh, too rich for my blood. Interested to know the price tag on the metal robot will be too. It's a little smaller, but imagine it weighs a tonne.
I heard it's around 18 inches, which is roughly the size of SB Astroboy and giant M1 Tetsujin. Both of those retail around $300 so it's tough to consider the price, even if the gallery commission is 50% That said, TKOM toys average $250-300 so I understand a bit of a jump from that.
For sure, but I'm less sure about a 5-6x jump. Gallery commission of 50% is the most believable theory to me so far, but regardless, it costs too much for what is frankly a Dreamworks-calibre dragon design. Especially given the much, much lower listings I've been able to dig up of the Elburn that Joe posted, which imo holds its own as an original work far better.
I'm pretty confident the price is almost double due to the gallery commission and smaller run size. The run of 10 doublethink he put out a few months back at Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore was about $800 which was about double. I love the dragon but at that size and price I'll be fine with just 1 at a grand (hopefully)
Does anybody have any info on the blank orange doublethink? I don't see it when looking through the doublethink history posted earlier in this thread.
For anybody else who might be following this; I reached out to TAG on instagram and they confirmed that they DID produce a blank orange doublethink at some point. I asked for more info on the release and they said they'd get back to me. I'll update if that happens.
