I wonder if those are shill bids. There is a first time for everything I guess but I have not seen any fresh Buta sculpt go for truly insane prices like that before. It's been a problem restricted to maybe 4-5 older toys and their repaints before, not the norm.
The yellow and gold marmit sphinx just sold, so it might be sphinx mania more than buta madness. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t1121197047 https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/o1121208318
Well, nuts is the going rate these days. Truly insane.... https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/q1121624719
I'm going to sound insane for this but that was much cheaper than I thought it would be. Maybe the flesh/brown Gorilla-Ju is less popular.
The big spenders just don’t really bother watching eBay, Probably would have gone much higher on YJA.
True true, but Andy's other stuff (mecha and King Ju and whatnot) has generally sold close enough to market value. Agree that this one in particular would have gone for more on YJA.
I'd say 'Market value' is only ever what one person is willing to pay. Fortunately, several of the other auctions ended up with 2-3 people egging each other on, beyond that and into the stratosphere (and God bless 'em for doing so!). The OG Gorilla Jus and earlier stuff has historically been way less popular with Asian bidders/buyers than the more recent Kings and MG2's, all of which did well enough via fleaBay. Most of the bidders on that last auction were based in the US (other than the winning Chinese bidder). I guess the next listing will test that theory.
That OG Gorilla went for WAY less than I expected. But 4k sure would still be a big help with dental expenses and car payments
As long as it went for more than $500 was a win! As usual, almost no TW/CH/HK bidders on the OG sculpt. But the American buyer paid immediately with zero asshattery (another win!)
Something looks suspicious about this gorilla, specifically the bottom of the feet. Should there be spray there? https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n1131739581
something about that one looks off to me too. the missing stretch monster omake isn't comforting either.
What do you thing about it ? I wonder if the clear versions of bemon are genuine. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h1130957809
I would like to know if these prices are really objective for these pieces: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l1130944379 https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m1129304412 It's crazy If anyone can give me some information, I'd be grateful to know why this version of the cyclops is so sought after. Thanks.
An auction house in Tokyo recently held an auction which included some vintage, RH, MVH, and NAG sofubi. Was interesting to browse the catalog and hammer prices. The Bouryoku Genjin (the big ticket items) in particular went for about 8K and 2.5K respectively. They seem to have been donated by the designer of an original header from 2010.
