I miss those too. Picked up a Mirock-collab from Lulubell. Unheard of today...too many fast clickers out there. I also miss headers.
I didn't mean my comment on international sales as a slight to Mori's business practices or acumen. I'm sure he has his reasons. Personally, I just wish the situation were otherwise. I think the stores stopped carrying RxH and all of the other JP vinyls because there was just too much of an unknown difference between perceived demand and actual sales. After 2008, most of the stores got stuck with inventory for months, perhaps years, until it was sold off at a discount. Lulubell was the last place to stock new RxH, but I think that was mostly Luke personally visiting Shinto Gangu on a regular basis, which was probably extremely time consuming for him (I'm still appreciative of the fact that he did so).
Weird as hell that the child/fight scales are so slow while prices for adults are through the roof. But it also explains why I've never come across an adult-scaled RxH figure at a decent price in a year of trying.
Just for perspective, they couldn't get rid of a bunch of those adult RxH at $60-100 a few years ago...
It’s insane, I started collecting when everyone was getting rid of the adult sizes. Got one of the nicest Bearos off of eBay for less than 200 at that time.
? Depends on what you're looking for. Yes, alot of common or repetitive RxH may sit in the after markets. But there's also alot of OG pieces that just never seem to come up for sale, and I've been looking off and on for over ten years. I remember $80 RxH adults in 2009, granted they were pre-orders which one rarely if ever sees anymore.
8 years ago, i remember beautifully custom-painted adult size RxH, unsold for months on Dead President's website. Adult size was a mixed bag for a long time, there was a lot of 'meh' releases IMO, but to be honest. i was never a fan of the 'action' style larger figures. There are plenty of exceptions that I do really like though, the Pheyaos, Ghost Sider and the collaborations with Atom and other makers. But generally IMO, real x head became something else when they started doing mostly adult size. I think it was a big turning point - old school and new school. I chose old school. I have managed to stick to that decision, which is lucky for me, because I can no longer afford the new school releases anyway. Saying that, Mori does release other things than flipper fuel, so its not all super expensive and unattainable. The recent gachapon set is really fucking good . . . . i recommend grabbing a set if you get the chance.
I really miss those Mutant Head releases, and that sculpt....I'm still hunting for a few too! Mori loves his fans, all over the world. I don't think anybody really understands what a 24 x 7 dedication it is to actually produce all of these toys, and to keep new ideas coming, moving things forward. I had always seen Mori drawing, always thinking of new stuff, its so cool to see him constantly creating. He really has a huge fan base because of this in my opinion...I'm always glad to hear he is in the USA a few times a year too! The adult RxH figures have really grown on me over the years, so many amazing releases and colorways. I love to see the occasional Beast Chaos or Minis produced too.... In terms of the adult large figures, all of those arm attachments, and different heads are so fucking cool....especially Six. Also, from a sort of historical perspective, it was totally cool to be at SDCC when Mori dropped those amazing clear fade adult figures way back in the day.... RHND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw this Oni back in 2015 in person for the first time, and saw this one here just yesterday in Nakano Broadway. Bananas ass price, but still one of the coolest toys out there.
Yeah, i managed to score clear red, clear blue and GID years ago. I never managed to score any of the others, its like they dropped off the face of the earth. They look just as cool nowadays.
@The Moog Aside from these I saw yesterday, the only other time I saw them was in Ichibanboshi, but it was his personal collection. So they weren’t for sale.
Not surprised. Have you seen the old school RxH collection of Datadub? its amazing, he has so many prototypes and one-offs etc. Was that one above 25,000? I cant quite make out the first digit . . . .
@The Moog It’s basically $250USD. Not sayin’ it’s not worth it, necessarily, but that kinda coin isn’t somethin’ I can throw around willy nilly!
Yes, I think it is 25,000 yen. That would be consistent with the prices that Mandarake has listed for Oni Heads recently. If I remember the story correctly, RxH originally produced these through Obitsu and had to order such large quantities that he was still sitting on dead stock years later, until 2007 or so. The green and clear blue were sold at an event in 2007 as the last of his stock. So there are probably more of these around generally (can't speak for specific versions) than some of the other old RxH. I'm not sure why availability has dried up and the prices have spiked. I believe GID was the last Oni to see release in 2007. The one that never seems to turn up is the silver painted Oni.
Glenn had the silver oni head for sale on ebay for ages. he also had a history of collecting money for things that never shipped.
Yeah... To be fair, everything that I bought from him on eBay shipped without problems. But the remaining items have been there for so long, that I wonder if they are all still actually available.
He had at least 3 of them up on ebay for ages, but the international 'postage' was ridiculous and his reputation as a dickhead put me off. My leeetle friends.
Yeah...this pattern is crazy and a bit annoying. I'm excited about a lot of the new toys but the price points are absurd. The 1000 price point for some of the alien ones are insane.
