Guess I missed the first one, this being marked as "2" on the sole of the foot. Mixed-parts 2HBemon went for ¥ 165.000 JPY. Not a fan of the deep peach(?) arm.
@C E It’s a pink glow arm, I think? Might just be flesh. @JoeMan I would LOVE to know what about this toy(any toy for that matter) was worth over $8K to the winner, and the people that helped bid it up this high.
Just takes a few to make it happen. Would be interested to see the bid history on that one; it could just be a couple of people duking it out for hours as the clock extended. I watch all of these and should probably stop, because shit is depressing. Thankful that I never seriously aspired to own one of those at least.
@C E Fair enough! I just figured the question mark was more of an inquiry. My B. I’ve never been the biggest fan of mixed parts, only wanting to see certain toys fashioned as such; Krono, Hyper Kraken, Obake Dogs, fight figures, etc. But 2HBemon has always worked well, in my opinion. Only thing I’d have done differently is a secondary, unused color on one of the heads. Even the two piece spiked ball looks cool as shit.
Looks like you're right. Auction started at 700.00 and seems only four people or so participated, two in the last of six pages of bids: Spoiler: Bids Edit: Placed bids in spoiler so to not hog up space.
No - one just doesn’t need that silly toy is all. Used car in decent shape, or a month long holiday to Japan (from anywhere - flying non-stop), or about 4 months mortgage on a reasonable house, etc... or... a figurine???? Absurd.
Even more expensive on Mandarake ! https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order...51471424&ref=list&categoryCode=200104&lang=en
lol. That’s 8 months mortgage in my neck of the woods. What was it that went this high? Save me from having to translate the listing.
@hellopike I think it was a Uzumark figure. The image is gone, but the listing said “Ilu Ilu Uzumark” at the beginning.
Yeah, weird how even on linked listings the image doesn't work anymore, but it was this (whatever that is): rescued pic:
Strange, due to the final bid, and sort of rare. Love or hate X-Plus-type figures (in this case, Eye-Scream/President-Japan), how often do you see a 101,000 yen, 80cm Pagos?? I'm still trying to figure out why it went this high, when it looks like there's one for sale on Amazon JP for about half of that.
Not particularly strange or rare, but one which was of especial interest to me, personally. Sad to have had it slip by this time. A thing of beauty. M1-Go giant GID Ultraman:
I think we've all seen the TKOM hype and explosion but this one kind of blew my mind. There was another painted version by the same seller that went for just over $1300. I thought the latest prices for TKOM's stuff had hit a peak but the TAG sculpt is everywhere and not that hard to find. I imagine TAG created hundreds of these VS. the the editions of 20-40 that TKOM publishes himself.
Goddamn! Old Doublethink hoarders, your time is now I'm surprised since these are custom paints too. But perhaps the deciding factor is exactly the fact that TAG produced a lot of Doublethink blanks and factory paints, whereas these are 1/1s that any TKOM fan with interest in the sculpt will have seen over the years. Shifty and Topheroy both do good work, personal preference for palettes notwithstanding, and I think Shifty's stuff has something of a cult status now, so maybe that's a factor too. Finally, there might be more OG Doublethink out there than the new one, but more will never be produced. Plenty of people who loved the original design disliked TKOM's in-house redo. ...or it's just the old 'more money than sense' story. God knows.
