Fair enough! You have a daughter so its more than understandable. But as you say each to there own.

 

I realize that my collection is just "my" collection, and doesn't have to please anybody else. That being said, I don't know how I could explain this thing to friends, family, neighbors if they saw it on my shelf.

 

I mean you shouldn't have to explain anything. If they don't like it you can tell them to make sure the door doesn't hit them in the ass on the way out. If your not harming anyone in real life there is no reason for concern.

 

Do you also have an overwhelming compulsion to bitchslap chavscum wearing their baseball caps backwards and giving youths wearing their pants low a ball-busting wedgie before handing them a belt . . . or is that just me?

@Headhunter I agree, in principal, with your assertion that your collection is your collection and as long as it isn't harming anyone, then their opinion has zero value; however, I do have a proviso.

@Smotemotem I also agree, hence the proviso, that when you have people more important than yourself in your life (namely children), that my litmus test for what is acceptable or not has shifted to include how I could explain something to them.

My daughter is intelligent and I could explain the context of this piece to her BUT I wouldn't want to because I find it as unappealing as pig-Hitler or spike-cock, vagina face, etc, both from an aesthetic and subject standpoint.

 

Andy, when I used to skate, I am sure there were Dad's that felt the same about me... dyed black hair, combat pants, Bauhaus t-shirt, Vans (or Chuck Taylors); however, the moment said fashion disasters start showing up at my house, my Dalai Lama-esque approach fades and I offer up one piece of knowledge to them... quite simply that 'I have a shotgun, a shovel and no conscience...'

 

It just reminds me of threads I've seen on other forums - guys trying to explain why they had bikini-clad anime teen girl statues, and having real-life consequences when they shared their collection with people they had to interact with, in-person, on a regular basis. And I'm just trying to imagine explaining what was "aesthetically pleasing" to me about something like the piece in question. At least, something that made me want it bad enough to shell out the cash for it. Same for any toy that has a Nazi symbol as a predominant feature. What conclusions are people supposed to draw?

 

Well if it's a work environment than that's going to be a common sense no no anyways considering how sensitive ppl can be.

If a toy is fugly enough I think it deserves repeating. This is another sucky paint job (quelle surprise) and WTF is with the missile on its head?. It looks fucking stupid.

Variety is the spice of life, after all.

 

@The Moog - The missile is apparently a play feature. The account that posted this had several shots of the missile in different configurations around the toy. It has been ripped & melted in several spots to indicate battle damage, and the missile seems to fit into most holes.
