Pretty excited to go see these guys on Tuesday. Milk Music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZO8GG9t7lc and The Men http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26psxrhO1hQ
Best of Lich King in 8-bit versions, in the spirit of MayheM - De Mysteriis Dom SuperNES, but way better ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNnJyBCy1z4)
I always keep Slint in the roation This week it's been Pixies, How I Became the Bomb, Fucked Up, Those Darlins, and Man or Astroman.
Oh yes, "Frigid Stars" is a great album as well and "Spiderland" will always have a special place in my heart. Back in the nineties I was in a band called Labrador, and we had a song called "The Poison" which was a pretty obvious rip-off of "Washer". I'll have to check out that Galaxie 500 album. Thanks for the tip!
Also: I've been listening to a lot of Tom Scharpling and The Best Show on WFMU instead of actual music these days... funny stuff
My wife and I saw The Raconteurs with Jeff The Brotherhood last week in Nashville. It was such an amazing show and we got a beautiful Rob Jones poster that was made for that night. The poster was sold out before the bands even started playing. Awesome show. Awesome poster.
^^Thanks! Definitely getting that one custom framed. It has silver and gold metallic inks... It is huge too! Almost movie poster size! We were so excited and shocked that such a great poster was made for that show. We happened to get there a little early and it really paid off! Great times.
Just poked in here for the first time in a while - you're welcome. The last song on the album, Tugboat, is about Sterling Morrison from VU. Just felt like mentioning it.
Been listening to The Soft Moon pretty exclusively. I'm calling it post-goth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgwGEG10WIY
I stay supporting and listening to all my local Virginia artists! (hip-hop) PM me if you ever want any!
Been listening to "Tomboy" by one-man band Panda Bear a lot lately. Interesting big wall-of-noise sound ... sort of like Seefeel meets Brian Wilson meets Cocteau Twins with some industrial/avant-garde weirdness thrown in.
