Re: Takahiro Komuro Sculptures Yes, I expect a lot more releases. I would also expect a higher price on a painted run but I could be wrong. Either way this toy looks amazing in person.
Re: Takahiro Komuro Sculptures Thanks guys. If they can capture the magic of the originals, I would be totally ok with a higher price. Due to lack of display space I just can get one of these.
Re: Takahiro Komuro Sculptures I'm going to move this into the Japan Toys section now that he has several toys coming out. Also adding "TKOM" to the thread title.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures So fun, whoever said GPK vibe earlier in the thread nailed it. I'm excited to get one of these once some painted runs come out. And he really is a super talented guy, his drawings are just as great as his sculptures.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures Wasn't a flesh version just teasered on the weekend? Still hoping for a painted release though . . .
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures The flesh appears to be the base vinyl for an upcoming show at Tag. My guess, at least.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures Anyone know if Takahiro paints or would any potential painted runs be contracted out?
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures winners were emailed earlier today (probably not what you wanted to hear sry)
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures I am pretty disappointed with his toy releases so far. His art is so great. Why not release something similar in toy form. I am not necessarily talking about the sculpts (though there are too many details imho - I love the clean lines of his sculptures much more) but the colorways. I really was hoping for some clean pop art colorways of the two headed zombie. The new release even feels more generic (to me). I have lost interest in his toys but still love his art.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures I think he looks pretty amazing myself.. the colors are spot and I'm loving the quirky cute nose as it's pretty unique looking and the head sculpt has a really nice flowing wavy look about it that I'm digging a lot.. Oh' and the broken jagged fingernails are a super nice touch as well...!!! Bravo Mr. Komuro......!!!!
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures The new toy is pretty good, I honestly just want more doublethink releases.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures Love the sculpt, so different than doublethink, fuckin love it and im so bummed i missed the drop.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures Agreed 100%! I feel like with the toys he's trying to go into that territory of like too much detail and like drippy gross bioform stuff that a LOT of people have been doing for years now. One of the nice things about his sculptures is that they feel influenced by toys but by a more classic simple forms and clean lines kind of thing. When I saw Doublehaunt I was sorta disappointed because of this, but I could still appreciate it. Hoped that he'd get back to his large scale style with future releases, but this new sculpt sort of dashes those hopes. I'm not saying they're not well made- the sculpting skill is incredible, just that the whole package is not my cup of tea.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures Has he stopped releasing the doublethink? Haven't heard anything about in awhile.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures I won this guy, and WOW it is amazing. Massive, and such a unique colorway. Doublethink is awesome, but I prefer this figure.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures Here are some more versions, all one offs, one is by Shigeru Arai, guess which
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures The middle one? It also is the only one that I noticed doesn't have dead pan eyes.. It looks more like its watching something than just...being there.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures It is the middle one. You can see the dotted paint drops in each eye. Signature Shig to me. This toy is actually really, really cool. It's WAY beefier than I thought, once I saw it in people's hands on Instagram. The first version pictured above is fantastic.
Re: TKOM / Takahiro Komuro Sculptures I still would like to get a doublethink, I've liked his work a lot before he was doing toy..Just haven't been around/able much in the last insane year. What are the gray melting guys in the background? Those are cool too!
