Last month of bags. Probably should have been more fiscally responsible before going to The Scumpit on Saturday, but that's a problem for future me.
Pretty stoked on this week’s mail. I snagged the Bwana-painted Gargamel Hedoran at Floating World Comics in Portland last week, and it’s too danged cool to not be included.
So is this a glitter vinyl with blue paint inside?
Not sure if it's blue all the way through but that sounds about right.
Eyes are a bit less blood red than what I was expecting from the pics, but nevertheless, solid spud.
Some favorites I’m putting together.
Still need to find a marbled version, but not bad.
I had been missing out on this since I first saw it shortly after it came out. FINALLY. THANK YOU MASKED MAN.
I am also thankfully blessed that I only had to airbrush 2 of the nostrils in the shot. Eww.
I had to find this again too. Sold it last year to help a family member—along with some other things—but this was something I knew I’d have to track down. I just didn’t expect to find it any time soon. This one seems “richer” in overall paint application than the last one I had. And the rainbow paint on the “Ultra Q” goes horizontally. There’s glitter on the stigma as well (if you zoom in, it looks like dirt in the pic)—but i don’t remember if the last one I owned had this touch. The leaves seem to have more depth in color, and the whole thing seems glossier.
EDIT: This appears to be the 3rd release. The one I used to own was the 1st or 2nd run. Source: http://www.ultrakaijyu.com/ultraq/juran.html
If there's one thing I've learned on SB, it's that an opportunity will always present itself if you wait long enough. Thank you again @nicholasfung!
Great version of this Shin G!
I saw one of these in Tokyo last time around, and whilst they are totally different to my usual taste, I WANT ONE!
That's definitely one of M1GO's most ambitious figures. Really huge when it's in "bloom."
Finally landed this whale after many years of missed opportunities. TAG has been really good to me recently.
People will say all sofubi is sofubi, no matter where it's produced, but some people say it MUST be made in Japan.
I am particularly indifferent, but most of the time, you can tell in-hand.
All of this mentioned because I just picked this up and I am floored by the quality.
When people started posting their pick-ups, I saw the footstamp with a run of 333, and normally his runs are like 40-60, so I knew this was going to be a mass-produced new toy.
And there's definitely a certain expected quality for "made in China" soft vinyl, usually hard plastic, and always shiny (in my experience).
The paint on this is excellent, and the sculpt is very soft and squishy, similar to how Japanese clear vinyl is. Really raised the bar for Chinese vinyl in my opinion.
I love the artist, love the new take on the character, and I'm excited to see more colorways.
Glad it arrived safe and sound @Geobukgan!
@nicholasfung To the best of my knowledge none of Ishi’s runs have exceeded 33 - 35. But I am surprised as hell to see a run of 333! That’s awesome! And the visual quality I’ve seen in photos looks awesome, and similar to older BxH and some of the early 2000’s street figures, but obviously improved on given the gap of time and factory capability. I do like the the rebirth of the Karma Dokuro, though.
I went a bit high @xSuicide Squadx with 40-60. It's more like 30-40. The Shinobi Purple was 42 and the most recent Turquoise Blue was 44.
@nicholasfung Oh, very nice! Thank you for clarifying! Admittedly, I’ve been out of his lottos for quite some time.
I won that karma too but haven’t received it. But after reading the edition size I have a little regret. Not that I don’t like the figure but at the price point I was expecting a more limited release like all the others. Brands like headlock who release giant runs like that are about half the price and it’s just kind of common knowledge that it’s how they operate. I don’t know, I don’t expect toy makers to feel obligated to release run sizes, but this is such a big departure from his history I wish he would have been a little clearer on what this new figure was.
I was a bit bummed too, but I hope you feel better when you get this in hand @JoeMan.
It’s also much larger than the original sculpt.
This will be the first toy from him I own, but maybe the scale will justify the price.
