Reviving this wonderful old thread .. with a question - Would anyone be kind enough to translate this for me, its been so long since I bought it I have forgotten but I think it is something like the last Samurai ?
Very nice one Scott, and excellent re-up of this perfect thread. Is that a bank perhaps? I can't help with the translation I am afraid, but I think that that might be Saigō Takamori, who - while maybe not the last samurai (if such a thing can be said to exist, outside of a terrible film I don't want to think about), was involved in late Tokugawa politics and the Meiji restoration, including leading the Satsuma Rebellion, the principle last conflict of organised samurai (1877). These were sort of the twilight days of the samurai, after their gradual shift towards Shizoku (士族) where they were no longer the armed warrior class.
I like to seeing this thread back active again. Thats a really interesting one scott. Im not great with the translation but.. Hanshu kou (honshu good fortune?) Katorisenko..seems to be masquito insense so ive got nothing there. Steve is definitely right its spot on with that statue.
Hey Jonathan! here a couple more photographed over the last few months Standard size Spectreman Large size Spectreman .. candy popper fists ..
Lovely new additions to the collection, Scott!! I especially dig that 'Herculean' Spectreman; so much fun. And those popper fists - wow - those are incredible, I would have loved those as a kid, especially to play alongside some jumbos.
Back from the dead. Nothing too new in here but I took a group shot of all the minis that I thought looked cool. I have a bunch of color variants, these are just one of each sculpt.
New Ogon Bat. His cape was painted red but its mostly worn off as paint doesn't stick very well to this type of material.
Superb Ogon Bat, man do I love that one. The red paint, even worn (almost better) works just the right tough for the gold, and the skull details are incredible. Weird how he almost looks like one of the shampoo bottle figures, only much smaller. Maybe a candy container originally? I have a single small poly Ogon Bat in a flying pose I think I might have got from Ricky here ages ago.
I absolutely love seeing the occasional not gold/silver blowmold figures in this thread. Great score.
Got a few new ones in. I thought these we mostly doubles of ones I had already, but they are all different. Its crazy that there were so many variants made of these characters.
