Could we get a dislike feature to counter all the likes lol? I'm just pulling your chain James- or am I?
Hey can we somehow incorporate these spectacular 8 bit style vintage japanese hero emojis? http://googoo64.web.fc2.com/navi_toku.htm You guys know you want them.....seriously anyone you can think of is here! Zombie Fireman what's not to love?
Ok, if you cover the bottle, I'll throw in the extra champagne, show gurls, confetti, and razzamatazz! P.S. We REALLY need that Tiger 7 emoti cuteness! P.P.S. they all look like they are doing aerobics
Lixx, what a rabbit hole...but I think I found the jackpot of these dancing dudes. http://www.geocities.co.jp/Hollywood-Theater/8572/MediaCast/MediaCast.html I also found a page of more smiley sized images, but no animation, so not so fun... http://www14.atpages.jp/gamemonster/kaijuu_game/fc_ultraman-club2/fc_ultraman-club2_kaizyu.html
I think you're exactly right, @blakewest! First best derail of the new SB! Long live drifting off focus!
Those are definitely all great. At least we can now incorporate them as images in posts (for those of that are astounded by the greatness). For smaller, general use and incorporation into our current smiley list, is there a specific size and file type, James?
A couple of very minor technical issues I will bring up here just so they are catalogued. I am not sure if it just my browser, but the site seems really laggy, especially when going to a specific topic/post, it seems to take a while searching. Not sure why this is. I usually end up just having to scroll down anyways to the last post. Sometimes, when clicking through links that redirect to other areas of the site, I have to log in again, i.e. a new window/tab opens up but I am no longer signed in on that one. But it is only on links as far as I know, if I use right click and open in new tab on a part of the board, it is fine. There is a currently a five minute window on editing PMs. Not sure this is necessary, but it also goes the read/unread option I suppose. Since I use a lot of shortcuts frequently, I notice that 'Home', etc., don't always redirect to the top, but often as not to the top of the posting window. Again, just a little thing, but usually when I make a post, I want to go right back to the header, and not have to scroll up past 20 something posts to do so.
I'm having the same scroll up issue. I always preferred a simple reading pane with black text on white. I think the new look is pretty cluttered overall. I'm also not a fan of windows that pop up when the cursor rests on something but I haven't had a chance to explore it much so just my initial impressions.
Big thanks to James for all his hard work. I think the new format overall is intuitive and will breath new life into the boards. Thanks James, you da man as always.
Yes, sorry, should have clarified that (I am just so used to home, end, pgdn, etc., from other functions). It is just a minor thing in the code related to after you make a post, it still/again has the message posting window 'active' so takes you to the top of that instead, rather than the top of the page. And, fwiw, this holds true for PMs as well.
Hm, that's gonna be a difficult one. I think that's hardwired into how the focus of the window works, and I'm not sure I'll be able to do anything about that. Also, that might be browser-specific. When I hit "Home" on my keyboard after posting, it goes right to the top of the page.
Yeah, it is a completely minor thing (I am just a sucker for efficiency). Firefox (what I am using) is absolutely terrible, and I don't know why I don't just break free of it. Probably the same stupid reason I still have snotmail, rather than something, I dunno, normal.
Is there a way to pare down the amount of new posts when I click on new posts? I don't think I need 10 pages of posts to read going back to June 5th? I'd like new posts as in new posts just for today- I'm not going to read everything only stuff that interests me.
^ It's not like you have to click on pages 2 and beyond. Seeing 20 links on a page is hardly a hardship.
Why are you so concerned about what I consider a hardship? Maybe i just dont like it and consider the 'forced implication' that everything is just so relevant on the board that I should just get to reading 20 pages of mostly fluff about shit hyped toys I could give a crap about. Is this your personal board and no one can have an opinion besides you?
I didn't say that you had to read 20 posts. There's no reason why you should have to read a single post all year, Chris. If all you're interested in is what happened today, then just click through on what happened today; the dates and times are right there for you. If all you want to read about is what you already care about, that's what subscribing is for. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what it is what you want to be changed. I'm not speaking as if this is my board, Chris, I'm suggesting that New Posts going back so far, about a month right now, is an excellent thing for someone that's been away for, say, a month, and wants to catch up. It's everyone's board, and what's relevant to individuals is subjective. You know this. EDIT: I'm guessing what you want, @Lixx, is at the top right: Mark Forums Read. EDIT 2: Yep.
I think maybe one possible alternative solution that might appease some of his concern is to have a narrowed view for viewing your posts, that way, if he so chooses, Lixx can at least eliminate any topic he hasn't posted in, which therefore might be the stuff he wants to ignore. I think some of the confusion stems from what is 'new', as in, the New Threads refers here to discussion which have posts in them unread by you, not necessarily new to the day/last day, so yes, theoretically, they could go back pages and pages as it could be a collection of all threads on the site you have never visited. I think the Recent Posts is more applicable for what Lixx is looking for, as this is the sorted by date list of just what is 'new'.
My bad if already mentioned but did the "View Your Posts" button go away, or am I just missing it? If the former, can we get it back? Cheers.
@Lixx @ultrakaiju Recent Posts would drive him up a tree, as there will always be 200 posts listed, read or not. New Posts vanish after you've read them, and the rest can be cleared down to zero with a single click. Check post #2 from this thread for most answers: http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/new-forum-feedback-requests.51080/#post-900698 James is maintaining an archive of addressed concerns there. If you want to see an archive of your posts, click the Your Content option in your profile drop down menu. I can't recall if there's an option that behaves just like View Your Posts yet, although I know that it's been discussed.
