Yes, I think it is pretty clear what each of them does, David. They serve different functions which is why the two of them are there.

The point here is that neither one of them is every going to be able to filter out only what Lixx is interested in.

Just to clarify and put this to bed, since there still seems to be some confusion on the issue. Short of hand-picking what threads you want to see by selecting specific ones to follow (i.e. Watched Threads above), there will never be an ideal solution to appease everyone. Until an option to see the threads you have actively participated in is added (which still isn't really the same anyhow), I think the best we could hope for - if there was even a strong call for it - is perhaps limiting the amount of threads carried over to the 'Recent' section to a certain amount. This is similar to what happened on the old forum; on a daily cycle the board would 'refresh' and just show the certain number of posts made after that time. For anything more, you had to go to the specific sub-forum to see all the previous posts. With this change, 'New threads,' for all intents and purposes can be kept the same, or possible renamed to Unread threads or something along those lines to differentiate it. That way, anyone has the option to go all the way back through any old thread discussions they have not read should they choose to, while those who are only interested in what's 'new' can go to the stuff posted lately. In the event of a 'busy' day, there will always be more threads active on the recent stuff, but it doesn't have to go on for pages; but again, you can limit yourself to just not going through them if you so desire. And, just to be clear, I am not advocating for this change, just explaining previous comments.

As a bit of housekeeping, particularly if we did add in yet another discussion filter, I don't think we would necessarily need to have all the headers we currently do in the top bar. Search Forums is somewhat redundant because of the search box ever present in the upper right anyways. Watched Forums and Watched Threads are somewhat redundant I think (probably the latter is sufficient anyways), and were always easily accessible via your bookmarks in any case previously.

The closest thing to "View Your Posts" that I've been able to find so far is a setting in your preferences for "Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply." If you check that, from then on any thread that you post in will be added to your Watched Threads. Then you can click "Watched Threads" in the top navigation, and it will give you a list that functions similar to "View Your Posts."

The only downside is that it isn't retroactive - You'll only start seeing threads you post in from that point on. Anything that you previously posted in isn't automatically added to your Watched Threads list.

If anyone wants to search on their own for a different solution, the software that this board uses is called XenForo. Let me know if you find anything.

I changed the name of the "Recent Posts" link at the top to be "Active Topics," which I think is a better representation of what that link really does. It's also reminiscent of the "View Active Topics" link from the old board.

What's happening is that you have (2008) in your post, and it's turning the 8) into 8). I can change the bbcode for that smiley so that only 8-) works for that smiley, but the problem with that is that old posts with that smiley are going to lose those smilies.

There's a way to post without the smilies showing up, by using the [plain][/plain] bbcode. I went in to edit your post to add those codes around the 2008's, but it bumped your post up past the character limit.

How to delete posts when nobody has posted after you? Is that function gone now?

I think this is problematic for sales threads especially when its set to automatically prune them after a while right? Plus I also hate the way double posting looks and editing a comment does not work to bump a thread.

    Dept. of Gentle Irony:
Check out the first two posts of this thread for a handy list of questions asked and solutions found.

Agreed that double posting isn't the greatest thing to have to resort to, but until the problem of douchbaggery is solved...

While I can fully appreciate not allowing people to delete their posts when things get out of hand, frankly, being able to edit them basically amounts to the same thing. Deleting posts is probably not a necessary function at all really, double-posting has become more rare, so I am fine okay it being gone too, but it could be handy at times for sales/wants threads as mentioned.

I did kind of like though, how you used to be able to see the thread title over each post made in the discussion. Especially when things went a long time between posts, such as sales or wants threads, you could follow the various iterations of the topic. It also let you see the original heading should someone go back and edit it later. It could be that it would add more clutter to the board layout the way it is now, but seemed okay on the previous version.

I haven't been getting email notifications even though I clicked on getting said notifications for certain threads and forums I follow. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. :)

I turned on notifications and got the first one, then found the next in my junk folder.
I moved it and they've been going to my inbox since.

    Yep, check your junk mail.

On a related note, I'm still working to figure out a different solution to the email situation. So there might be some interruption in regular email notification stuff, but it should be brief.

I tried that but no luck that's why I was asking. I felt I might've been missing something in the delivery but I am just not getting anything at all, spam box or any box.

I'll try in subscribing and redoing it. Maybe that'll work. Thanks for the heads up. :)
