Open for business: Inching towards normalcy with some new friends in my pocket. Gargamel, GGML, Vendorbot, Mega Junkatron
Had a fun idea in my head for weeks and finally decided to actually get it out there into existence. This one was tricky as hell, since I’d never used or worked with a projector for a photo before. The first image has the projector as the main source of light, while the second image of its kind had a minimal lighting setup to the side. The Cinema Monster itself is the Lucky Bastard III micro run from Soft Vinyl Mayhem 2016. Not exactly an ‘urban’ setting, but it is a manufactured setting nonetheless. Spoiler
My first Refreshment cupcake cat and Marmit Para Baby! Two lines I've been watching for some time, not really knowing what to look out for or where to start. The cat is produced to such a high standard, with crystal-clear vinyl painted internally. Wish these were easier (and cheaper) to find, as I think Refreshment might offer the best price/production value ratio in our hobby at retail. Metron was a really nice surprise, with more joints than I anticipated and a clean, vibrant paint app. Crazy to me that well-made licensed toys like this can still be found in the $25-40 range. Thank you to the board member who let him go!
I don’t know why I thought this was a good idea, but I had fun with it? I guess. Whatever. The coffee was good and this release is severely underrated.
@rattanicus Thank you again, Rei! Had to get something of an evil element goin’ on, takin’ a photo of a horned beast inside of a Starbucks. Nothing says ‘evil’ quite like a pumpkin cream cold brew coffee.
Nice, lil’ re - edit. Only thing that sucks is when I upload these to Imgur they get desaturated quite a bit with certain colors(green being the big one), and I have no idea why. It only started happening about two months ago, but this image is way greener from the neon than what’s actually here. Even still, I do like having a better grasp on what I’m doin’! Spoiler: Original, Terrible Edit
Edit: If you saw these when I first uploaded them, just kidding. I did a re - edit and liked ‘em a lot better a second go ‘round.
Decided to chill out a little with the editing and mute this photo, blunt some edges. I normally like things looking crispy, but I'm happy with how this pair came out. Workman and cone-kun on break, sheltering from the rain.
This October has been total shit, and I haven’t really had much of the Samhain spirit at all this year. So much so that I hadn’t felt any motivation to get any of the Halloween - esque photos I’ve had in mind done, but I finally had it in me today, and I’m really, really glad I did. The first one was tricky with the camera setup, as well as getting myself in there with a proper knife hold. But I love the way it came out. I’d done this type of “Halloween stairs” shot before, years ago, but this one provided better scenery, atmosphere, lighting, and a better, preferred toy. The second shot was just somethin’ quick and fun I cooked up. Felt more like an advert got a Michael Myers toy you’d see in the Sunday paper.
Wanted to do somethin’ a little more spooky and fortune teller/palm reader - esque(not sure why he reminds me of that), but my mindset sort of fell out of the creative lane throughout October. Even still, this was a fun one and I’m happy with it.
Thank you, Rei! This one took quite a few attempts between placement and angles. I took close to, if not 25 shots before I settled on this one!
Decided to make a dent in the pile of dolls I haven't yet photographed. Sunguts Suiko custom painted by Dead Prez (2010), and the most recent Rose Vampire release which I bought for my partner. They love it (despite disliking most of my dolls) and actually asked me to take him out today Spoiler: Iffy b-sides
@zindabad That second Rose Vampire shot is great. Looks like a traveler or vagabond’s “wish you were here” postcard.
@xSuicide Squadx thank you! The painting in the background is great too but I couldn't focus on it. Photo from google:
I could make the silhouette of the tiger, but I think the colors of the mural, mixed with how you caught the sun, and the asphalt is what makes it all complete. But it’s still really cool to see this mural in all its glory!
