Maybe, in the long run, this is whats needed. Limit the resources out there so you have to think twice before churning out twelvty releases a month.
Would be nice to see RxH collab more with others (besides sculpting exclusive figures for toy shops). Gargamel and Secret Base have been fantastic about doing this to keep their brands fresh. The Blobpus/Ilanena Diablo collab was one of the toys of the year...Cronic x Max Toy realized a great new toy with Tripasu....etc.
OK, I got the answer for this one today. This is kinda funny how this one got mixed up. It's kinda like the telephone game. The main toy making company's vinyl supplier did stop making clear vinyl so they started to carry a new clear vinyl. The big scare here was that the clear wasn't going to be as good. Long story short it is and all is well. Funny right? I think all and all my life is so mush easier now that I can actually collect RxH. I love a good hunt from time to time but I prefer it to be with some weird line that I don't already have a collection of.
I think accessories for existing figs would really rock the line. Weapons and helmets. A wife, children, and pets. I think a "fan vote" related classic-reissue box-set of X3 figs would kick ass too. Especially with a glow evil with pink spray included in it. What a wonderful ruckus that would entail. A 8' standard size Marusan style Evil would be sweet too.
Yep. I think one of the most talked about aspects of rxh was that one ancient photo at a toy show with the protos for different arm weapons...and then they were never produced. It wouldn't take much to spice things up...different limbs, weapons, armor, random weird or limited accessories thrown in. Mori already mixes bodies and limbs on his figures. Heck, even make them blind-bagged to really amp things up.
Whoa, nothing posted here has made me as excited as thinking about a mutant in some vicious looking battle helmet and armor.
He started to do this with the Waru and the detachable right claw and other hand piece similar to the King Heaters (drills, claws etc). But maybe he dropped that idea.
I like hone borg and warubone's switchable arm pieces, but I never switch them, myself. I just keep them as they are out-of-the-bag. I think accessories would be a neat idea, but I wouldn't really buy them. A big part of the appeal for me is the paint apps, so accessories would just get in the way. RxH is really more of an eye-candy than something I want to play with.
I agree as well, the earlier paint apps are awesome. Eye-candy is exactly what I'd describe them as. I hope we see more in that vein.
Yeah I was really excited when I heard there would be interchangeable pieces, but then the bone/spear type thing I thought was kind of weak and certainly not menacing at all. Made me just want to stick the other hand on. I too thought there would then be other accessories, but it obviously hasn't happened yet. I see what you guys are saying about added accessories getting in the way, but I probably wouldn't be heating up any "og" chaos figures a dozen times to stick on different arms and such. That being said, I think there are more than enough other figures kicking around now (blanks, the solid figures, unloved colorways etc.) that could be utilized for trying out new combos. Also I would think those who love customs would welcome new pieces to paint and add to their designs.
Alot of the solids could be jazzed up or more interesting with spare parts Accessories like armor or weapons or whatever would just be a way to change the look of a figure. For example, I like the look of a King Heater with two claws. Emupaiya really hit the mark with those.
I wouldn't doubt that the fun-factor would be upped with accessories--and the look of some blander figs could be improved with them, but I'm one of maybe a small few that don't even like to remove the scarf from any of my figs. the most I've ever come to customizing a figure was the thought of putting an orange scarf on a Ramune Head. I kind of see the figs as a complete thought I guess. If I felt like it needed something, I just wouldn't buy it. I don't like to tamper with them. Of course if Mori did do add-on parts and stuff like that, I hope that it's a success. EDIT: I "wouldn't" doubt...! that changes everything
how about some collaboration accessories?? to spice things up,,,i have switched over a few oni masks to some of the blander recent releases...
People are removing scarfs or bandanas from figures?!?! I thought about doing that to the first one I received years ago, cause I'm not into fabric on figures, but came to appreciate it as is. Also must be a I FART A LOT to retie.
Yea, I can't imagine having to tie all these scarves. One easy thing if you didn't want to untie them is to just pop the head off. You can easily remove the scarf untie and put it back on later that way also.
