The turtle is awesome. Hope when they’re released I have better luck grabbing one than I’ve had with the other Cojica releases.
Rad - good to see the process methods - Really digging the old robot light movements in that sculpt too
Ankeron has landed! Gamera's goofy swimming cousin has the makings of an instant classic: ultra-polished sculpt with no sharp edges, just simple shapes and smooth curves for maximum gloss. I wasn't sure about the blue vinyl at first, since I enjoy flesh/pink bases, but on reflection a blue base will let the toy age more gracefully, taking on chips at the edges of the pink areas. The joint engineering is also really smart. You'd think the fins would scrape against the body, and they get scarily close, but there's enough clearance that you can turn them all the way with no rubbing. I might be fanboying a bit, but this was one of my top releases of the year, and it absolutely lived up to my expectations It's also my first win from Cojica. Was convinced I'd have to find one on the aftermarket.
Haven't been paying attention so this is the first I'm seeing of this sculpt - what a clunky winner! Throw out a batch on milky green vinyl with some yellow sprays, or vicey versey, and I might have to make some plans to sell some fluids at the plasma bank. Grats.
Yeah I am still bummed I didn't win the lottery on that one. It's been fun watching the progress on this one and the end result is amazing. The little included bathysphere is really the cherry on top. Is it magnetized so the fin can hold it?
Yep, opened it up in case any water got inside during the photos and there's a magnet glued to the inside. I think there may actually be a little well for it moulded on the inside, but I didn't look closely and that could also have been a blob of glue. Imagine the inside of the fin is the same. Only one fin though. I prefer it that way, less to worry about. Another friendly design choice is that the bathysphere has a flat part on the bottom, so it can sit stably on a shelf when you don't have the kaiju grabbing it. I know at least a couple of board members have been looking forward to this one and I wish you all the best of luck with future releases. He's worth it.
Soft Vinyl Sydney exclusive Tyranbo, from 2017. The layered silver and blue come together so beautifully, and the slit pupils put a surprisingly sinister spin on an otherwise fun and goofy design. Spoiler: More photos Once again, Hiramoto-san sculpts an excellent tail. The curvature is sharper than I expected, like a softer J-tail.
Just received this Mecha Tyranbo! I finally hit on one of these guys, and my first Cojica. And I must say the quality of the vinyl and painting is very impressive. He reminds me a bit of a goofy bizarro Mecha Godzilla. The art on the header card is a nice touch too!
Filling in some gaps over the last year: Spoiler: Original releases Mecha Tyranbo release, late April 2020 Anchelon #2, yellow vinyl with red and brown sprays, sold in August 2020 Mecha Tyranbo LED on gunmetal grey vinyl with red sprays, sold November 2020 Tyranbo on fleshy tan vinyl with green and red sprays, sold June 2021 Anchelon #3, orange vinyl with green and red sprays, sold August 2021 Spoiler: Licensed releases Chibira-Kun, sold at Daimansai/Mandarake Fest in August 2020 Pochi-pochi, sold through Mandarake in late April 2021 Spoiler: Upcoming toys Neko and dinosaur sculpts, post from July 2020. I believe both are original characters but could be wrong. Neko prototype, November 2020—cap is magnetic (see video) Neko clothing prototype, December 2020 Most recent looks at Mecha Tyranbo 2, dated June 7th and July 11th 2021 respectively. Per the foot stamp post, this is slated for 2022. Even with a slower release cycle in 2020, Cojica has been busy! We've seen five new original releases plus two very unexpected and welcome licensed Chibira-Kun toys. I was lucky enough to win the third Anchelon/Ankeron release, which I couldn't resist the thought of matching up with the orange Ghostron-inspired Godesu. Plenty to be excited for in the year to come as well. Also worth noting that the poll for the most recent lottery asked which toys we'd like to see for 2022—I put my vote in for the Neko, but the T-Rex-looking dino and of course MT2 would be very welcome. I hope we see at least two of the three
I'm hoping for the re-release of the Neko as well- He released them when I was still in financial hell due to the pandemic but I want to have 3 made. Otoh today I just received the newest Anchelon in the mail moments ago. I'm stoked as this is my first Cojika in a couple years.
