I've been lazy with passing updates on, so here's the news. The posts I got these from are below; I encourage you to peek Charactics' instagram for their collection photos and general musings too. Headlines: Two other manufacturers' 'very popular' characters will be involved in upcoming tank and plane collabs -- I'm assuming this means indie characters, but unsure Charactics has an original character in the pipe -- this was posted in reference to a photo of some classic pachimon, so maybe it will have a pachi feel? New tank font -- looks taller and cleaner -- looking increasingly likely that we'll see new tanks soonish June 26: June 29: July 6: July 7: July 8:
Cat's out of the bag: first release will be Summer WonFes, which is in September this year. No other details just yet. Looks like we'll be waiting a bit longer, but I'm hopeful. I should have considered this earlier as well: every Charactics toy to date besides the vehicle collabs will depend on a license from Toho. I don't know the mechanics of getting a 1-day domestic license vs one that works for international releases, but imagine there's some difference in difficulty. Any idea what this could mean for releases?
Since he’s had the license in the past, I imagine he’ll get it again easily enough - but I would bet a pile of racers that it’ll be Japan only. International Toho licenses are super tough owing to the direct competition with Bandai. Best bet is to have feet on the ground at upcoming events (fingers crossed)
Been a minute! We've had some exciting reveals in the last few days: Jewel/Tiffany Matango appears to be on the cards for WonFes. August 5th, new headers. I believe the green is the existing header for the midsize, but the yellow and pink versions are new. Unsure about the smaller one on the bottom right--any ideas? ^^^ Wouldn't pulling 'em in Tiffany blue have been way easier and less prone to rubs/scratches than 100% paint coverage?
I think the box in the last picture might be porcelain or something like that, and this release will use dark blue and/or black boxes with a different-coloured ribbon. But if that's the box, you're right!

Both options are good. Personally, some nice light in an enclosed case with the figure and the little box would look amazing. Clear with minimal paint looks so good in that presentation.
It's completely thru Wonderfest. So Wonderfest is doing their show online, and I guess they want to only sell to locals, the people that would have been there in person. I think it's out of Charactics hands.
