Nice and quirky, but the scythe joint not aligning drives me crazy and wire whiskers look pretty fragile.

@Anti Social Andy Maybe if you spin it a certain way it’ll line up? But the way Ishi - San illustrates his cat is exactly how this toy is positioned, so I can see you visual discomfort. Even still, I’m really excited to see he’s continuing his translation of tattoo work to toys. I love the lifeless, yellow eyes.

Edit: Just kidding. Looking at his most recent post the lower half of the scythe has a wider circumference than the top. So it’ll be “off” all 360°.

I think I said this on the original post, but I am totally amazed at how incredibly well this represents Ishi-san's drawing translated to a 3D vinyl. I am not sure who made and pulled it, but it is amazing word from where I am standing. I was expecting this to not be such a battle in the lotteries as for the Karma Dokuro, but who knows? I really would love one of his toys, but not going anywhere near the aftermarket on these. And as has been said, outside of Robert's incredible luck, these seem few beyond Japan and a tight community.

Anyways, back to the kitteh. I totally get what you are saying Andy, those are both points which immediately jumped out at me, too. From my point of view it comes down to the whole wabisabi nature of appreciating it, but I can completely agree that such touches are not to everyone's tastes. I hope the whiskers on these last both in transit and in duration for the toy. I think if I had to change anything, I would have made this guy more of a mini figure, as a nice companion (and because I would like a smaller toy just to randomly display places, where this seems like quite a piece of vinyl). I also think having a smaller toy would suit the 'character' more and justify the lack of articulation (which you don't really need in such a design).

Robert, you are killing it with these lotteries, so happy for you. :) Seeing your wonderful photos for each of the releases is really about the only enjoyment it seems most of us can look forward to from these releases - and it is a major one. Happy to keep on trying my luck, but I am glad that I have such ways to enjoy the toy all the same.

@ultrakaiju Thank you, Steven! Although I think my luck majority comes down to being an early adopter/supporter of Ishi - San. I knew of his work, both tattoo and resin, but had no idea he’d be at DCon in 2017. So when I found him with Izumo and excitedly recognized him he regretfully informed me he sold out of blank Karma, which I didn’t even know he’d produced. I’m super, super lucky, and even more grateful to own the versions I do, and not a single complaint about any I don’t.

This is Oscar, though officially named as the Kuro release. Bonus points if you can guess the reference. I love this one. I’m not nearly as bothered by the scythe staff not lining up as I thought I’d be. And the whiskers are not at all frail, nor would I consider them a display liability. Though there is a funny insert with the figure that states “When beard get curled, put him in hot water.” The size is great. Feels like a perfect companion next to the Karma Dokuro, which this Kuro Neko version takes after the first Dokuro release.

Superb Robert! I don't know why I was feeling optimistic about this one, I guess I thought that the whole 'cat' thing might not be up to the same attractiveness to the usual hype beasts chasing his other toys, but obviously that was not the case. I actually was not bothered at all by the two factors you mentioned, though I saw a number of people discuss them. (and yeah, I totally love the little handout sheet he came with! :) ) I think he is a blast, and such a wonderful transition of his work to vinyl. If there was an omake size made in greater numbers (even unpainted) that would be thrilling. As ever though, your photos of the toy alone are the next best thing to having been lucky in the lottery. So thank you for that!

@ultrakaiju Thank you, Steve!!! :o Honestly, I had the same thought process: “It’s a cat. No way as many people are gonna go nuts over this like the Dokuro...” Nope. So, so wrong. But it is still great to see Ishi - San’s efforts appreciated. And it most certainly is another perfect representation of his 2D tattoo art translates to a 3D medium. Next time I get photos of this lil’ grim kitten I’ll have to make sure my fingerprint doesn’t surface the vinyl!

What? I thought everyone on skullbrain only handles their toys with acid-free, lint-proof, static-resistant, museum quality gloves. If you don't you're just asking for the trouble that will come.

Thank you, Steve! There isn’t a whole lot of places I can go to ‘get away’ or get out of the house. Downtown Phoenix is my usual, but I have no idea how many people are/aren’t down there, and I have a bit of trepidation finding out. Cemeteries are a safe bet, as 1. People mind their own business. 2. The majority occupying public certainly won’t bother you. 3. There’s plenty of room to work the legs on a walk. And 4. I find it very calming. Plus, the overall location is very fitting for both of Ishi - San’s toys!

Hell yeah, Zach! Love that it’s tucked into the shelf amongst a bunch of other great toys, but it clearly stands out on its own. Good to see another visual contribution!!! :o

Also, this new set of Karma Dokuro and Neko was lotto’d at the Mandarake Sofvi Fest. I don’t think there was an actual name for it, but I just dubbed ‘em both ‘Suika’.
