Recently picked up Sanabi- an awesome "metroidvania" (my favorite genre along with space shooters) style platformer. You're a samurai/mercenary with a giant hook arm that takes place in a futuristic Korea. It has huge worlds and dynamic backgrounds. The hook arm is a really fun play mechanic as well! I definitely recommend this one.
Picked this one up for my daughter from playasia, it looked cutesy enough and like something she would enjoy- turns out its an awesome platformer and I've ended up playing it all day!
I started playing Xenoblade Chronicles X on my Switch. I've never played any Xenoblade before, or role-playing type games generally, but so far I'm enjoying the introduction. The combat is not what I'm used to but it's got me intrigued enough to keep learning and trying to improve. Its got a smooth user interface, a mind boggling amount of options, but organised effectively as far as I can tell. The story ain't bad so far, crash landed on alien planet, make a small town out of the massive wreckage of the ship ...
I finally beat the three FromSoft Souls games that I hadn't finished - Dark Souls 1, Demon's Souls & Sekiro. I have some serious gripes about two of those games, but Demon's Souls was a blast. I decided to replay Bloodborne, and I may go ahead and replay the other three games, while I'm at it.
I only watched a few minutes of this 1.5h video, and only because I've eyed buying LRG games a number of times but never pulled the trigger.
it doesn't seem to matter, they're still out there promising new ports of games, and taking literally years to deliver them. They take so long, gamers forget they even ordered/paid for the game. Its frankly ridiculous.
'Strictly Limited' games are similar. I've bought some on the aftermarket, but I'm damned if I'm giving them my money and then they sit on it for a year, or often way longer. People who ordered the shmup Crimson Clover from 'First Press' games physically have been waiting over three years at this point. All these types of companies also have terrible customer service too, they just send out template apologies, with no real explanation.
Limited Run isn't as bad as the aforementioned Strictly Limited and First Press. The longest I've ever waited for a LRG title was approximately 9 months. I can't vouch for those super packed editions that come with a bunch of unnecessary crap (in my eyes)- but as for just single titles, it really doesn't take that long and I've ordered from them 16 times. Strictly Limited SUCKS. I don't know what their policy is, but it seems they set a specific amount for a pre-order and wait until its completely sold out (you can see a percentage bar under each title). I've been waiting for Shinobi Non Grata for about 1.5 years and it just recently sold out. So it literally takes however long it takes for those interested to zero out their stock, as opposed to just saying "ok, not that much interest, lets just produce the numbers we got" And First Press- yeah, don't even bother with their pre-orders. Just wait the years it takes for the game to actually be produced and buy it then. I haven't had any problems with long waits with the companies Red Art Games, Super Rare, or Iam8bit- so I'll vouch for them.
@hellopike Did you get round to playing 'Stray' a while back? I've been playing it on my Switch recently and I love it so far. Kinda like a chilled out puzzle game with occasional action. The abandoned futuristic city is so cool, and the music and graphics are great. Definitely a must play if you're a fan of our feline friends.
so I own the physical release, but I never got more than 30 minutes into it because the motion cap was so good, it was causing my actual cats to not leave the tv alone while I was trying to play; so I kinda stopped and never went back.
I think this is all the boxed GBA games i have. The others would of been traded, and i mainly bought loose games back in the day. My local CEX is selling Wario Ware boxed with instructions for £55, which is more than i thought it would be. Some vintage games just keep going up in value. Has anyone here played Kurukuru Kururin? Its one of my favourite puzzle games of all time, such a fun game!
It’s pretty good and MUCH longer than I thought! I bought it the day POTUS started its tarif with China, only felt appropriate. Levels are huge and it represents a time investment I m not sure I’m ready to give. I stopped (paused?) to go kill demons of hell in my most anticipated game of the year: DOOM. Might pick it back up in the winter. DOOM is good but not awesome like the two previous one. It’s waaaay easier, I’m cruising through levels on my usual difficulty mode on my PS5 which shouldn’t happen as I’m really bad at aiming with a controller. Starts to require attention on Nightmare. Also feels way more repetitive. Still, it’s DOOM and it’s actually more appropriate for me to play a game that doesn’t suck me in completely like Sekiro or Elden Ring.
Still playing Stray, amongst others. It's such a beautiful, atmospheric game. A slow paced puzzler with occasional bursts of action and danger. Attention to detail, interactions with the A.I. constructs and the environment is beautifully done. The art style and animation, I can't recommend it enough. It's just cool playing as a real cat with a little robot friend.
I'm having so much fun playing this cozy game but it's still early access and there's a major update happening in July. The aesthetic is like early anime Sailor-Moonish and I love it. - Maddie
