Right now a combination of Rune Factory 4 Special on the Switch and I just fixed my 360 so I'm also playing Kingdom Under Fire Circle of Ruin in it
Mail day. I had plenty of games on the Game Boy Advance, but i never had any Castlevania. I don't remember even seeing them for sale. Anyway, the three GBA versions are on this cart and they were ported by M2, which is always good news. I'm looking forward to playing these!
I've been playing through Breath of the Wild on the switch. My first Zelda game and the only other game I've used my switch for besides Super Smash Bros. Trying to conquer the Divine Beasts currently, down to the last of the 4. Great game so far
I really loved BOTW, and then TOTK came along and improved on it. I honestly think TOTK is the best game I've ever played.
It's addicting! I spent the first 2 weeks playing not even working on the main story, but having a blast just exploring, visiting shrines, discovering koroks, and generally boosting Link's skills and abilities. It's a beautiful game, really. Shadow of the Colossus vibes
Yeah, it's a slow burn. You gotta take your time with these games, not rush to 'beat' them. I'm 280+ hours into TOTK and I've plenty of side quests I can still do before finishing the main storyline. Adding the ability to use Zonai technology for building things, was a great idea. Half the fun is doing many tasks your own way. There's a kinda freedom.
I finally "finished" TOTK a bit ago. Everything except all koroks, all armor upgrades, and every single map location. 100%'d BOTW, and didn't feel like doing it all again.
Finally have some time to continue playing God of War Ragnarok, still not sure if its better than the one before but so far so good.
I just got Sniper Elite V2 Remastered for the Switch, it's supposed to run pretty smooth handheld, and it was a nice price. I've been playing a lot of Castlevania Circle of the Moon. One thing I haven't tried on these retro collections before is the rewind function, and it's turned out to be pretty sweet. A good way of learning enemy behavior and timing, without having to repeat levels. The instant save states are a big plus also, just save whenever you want.
I just started Elden Ring last weekend. Wow, what a game! When it was released I didn't want to play it until I was familiar with a few of the other souls games. Fast forward to now after beating Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1-3, Elden Ring feels the most beginner friendly. Nice change of pace!
Im about an hour in and love it so far. The art direction and overall visual aesthetics are incredible, some of the best ive seen this gen. Also listening to the audio book of Journey to the West as im pretty ignorant of chinse mythology.
Nice J, glad you're enjoying it so far! The graphics are truly next level, and the transition from cut scenes to gameplay is probably the most seamless I've ever seen. I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet, just been watching gameplay videos so far, but gah it looks so good. I spent a good part of my childhood growing up in Taiwan and I'm sure I was required to read the book or was at least taught the story in school, though I don't remember any of it. Might have to brush up on it too before getting the game, I hear it actually depicts most of the characters pretty accurately.
Recent physicals ... Xeno Crisis is the best of the bunch in this collection. Its a fast and frantic twin-stick shooter, similar to the classic 'Smash TV' .... challenging but i'm enjoying it. Dusty old games, for a dusty old gamer This one features four games: Granada (Sega Genesis/Mega Drive), Gaiares (Sega Genesis/Mega Drive), Avenger (PC Engine) and Psychic Storm (PC Engine).
Still trying to complete ascension 20 for all characters in Slay the Spire and running through Fatal Frame for the first time (technically the second because I rented it as a kid and didn't get past the first part with Miku's brother. Was too scared to play it )
I've been playing a lot of the Castlevania Advance Collection, and having a blast. 'Circle of the Moon', i got more than halfway through but the item drops were so infrequent and the bosses started to get annoyingly tricky, so now i'm playing 'Harmony of Dissonance' and it has a more reasonable item drop frequency and seems less finicky overall, so i'm enjoying it a lot. The only downside so far is the music isn't as good. I recently realised that the modern/retro designed 'Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon' was released in Japan physically as a two game collection. The Limited Run single game Switch editions are now quite pricey on the secondary market, so its nice to pick up this reasonably priced Japan exclusive, which has English language support throughout.
Are any of y'all playing Starfield? The Shattered Space DLC comes out on the 30th. I'm looking forward to some new content.
I spent quite a bit of time playing that game at launch, but I just got a little too burnt out. After a while it just felt… more of the same ol same ol’? I spent a lot of time going around collecting materials on different planets, and I feel like that tainted my gameplay experience. I wish I could get back into it!
I completed Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance and got the special ending (1 of 3) where you have to collect all of the Dracula body parts and then equip two special bracelets before entering the final boss area. I've now started Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and its good, but it doesn't feel the same without the trusty whip. The music is way better though! Here's two more physicals i got recently. Gunvein is kicking my arse, its a challenging shmup but it doesn't feel unfair. It rewards 'aggressive' playing, which makes it hard. I've obviously not figured out the best playing style yet. Valfaris is about as Heavy Metal as a retro-inspired game can get. Its a run and gun in the Metal Slug kinda style. The soundtrack is by an ex-member of Celtic Frost and the visuals are impressive for this type of game. I've only tried it out quickly this morning but i'm already loving it. Its nice you have a sword to swing around as well as all the guns.
Finally got around to starting TOTK a few weeks ago. You fellers were right, this game is bonkers fun. Took a little getting used to coming fresh off of BOTW (going from OP to noobshit in a flash was humbling lol), but now I agree - this game is 10x better
I'm nearing 300+ hours in TOTK, still finding fun stuff to do, side quests and adventures I haven't done yet ... caves and tunnel systems newly discovered, weapons I've never seen before, sky islands I don't recognise. Plenty of shrines i haven't done yet. I could of faced the final battle a long time ago ... I can still go back to BOTW too, I only got about halfway through before TOTK dropped and I just had to try it out.
Pro tip for TOTK - the underground shrines are all linked with an aboveground shrine and vice-versa. Also, rivers on the overworld map are impassable walls in the underground. And you can be on one level, with the minimap pulled up for the other level. Anyway, my wife’s been playing the remakes of Silent Hill 2 and Resident Evil 4. Both solid games, but I don’t know that they’re better than the originals, except for the improved graphics. I’ve been stuck on WoW again…what’s wrong with me…?
Yea, I kinda wish I hadn't rushed to beat Ganon in BOTW. Lost the incentive to continue playing after that. Gonna try to prolong the endgame as long as possible this time around Oh wow that's good to know, thanks! The one thing I wish this game had from BOTW is the shrine tracker. Also there seems to be a lot less koroks in this game to find
There is a Shrine Sensor in TOTK ... 'To get the Shrine Sensor, you'll first need to complete two different quests — Camera Work in the Depths and A Mystery in the Depths. This will get you the camera and the Autobuild skill. Not only that, but once you've fixed Robbie's hot air balloon with the Autobuild function, you can speak to him to open up a brand new Side Adventure called Hateno Village Research Lab. This is the quest that will set you on the path to upgrading your Purah Pad.'
The most recent indie shmup i've bought. I'm glad i got the physical, its amazing. Everything works together so well ... the music, sound, graphics and gameplay. I wanted something a bit different and this was a great choice! ... its the kinda game that screenshots don't do it justice, you gotta play it.
