Haha, it's a bit of a misleading cover that one. The game itself has nothing to do with oppai, apart from a couple of the characters in the cut scenes, which can be mildly suggestive .... but they're great bullet hell cute 'em ups, and the music is synth-based J-pop, which really works. The bullet patterns and gameplay are great. SO Japanese and crazy!!
Randomly stumbled upon a game called Unicorn Overlord on the PlayStation store last night. It's basically a repackaged Ogre Battle 64; which might be my favorite game ever. Played the full 5 hours of demo time and it's wonderful so far. If you were ever a fan of Ogre Battle this seems like a no brainer.
Supermarket Simulator. It reminds me of the past when I was a cashier at a computer store. It appeals to that urge I have to organize shelving. LOL
Love this game! I even own a figurine of the girl that's on the box art. I'm playing Yakuza Dead Souls now on PS3
Yeah, its a great game, underrated on the Switch i think. I really like the grappling hook / flinging the enemies. I also like the lock-on strafe function, which reminds me of Zero Gunner 2- ... the sound effects are good, the graphics nice and crisp. Its an excellent shmup! Latest physical ...
Playing through Persona 3 Reload. So far, and enjoying it a lot. I'm a sucker for monster-raising games. On a related note, I played through the Monster Rancher games for Switch, and finally accomplished my childhood dream of beating a MR game. I did not have the patience or the willpower for these games, prior to this year. Here's my ranking for the seven games I've completed so far, in 2024. Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher Monster Rancher 2 Blasphemous 2 Lies of P Monster Rancher 1 Code Vein Blasphemous 1 I've missed y'all. Haven't bought a new vinyl toy in years, but I still lurk on here every 2-3 months and see what's for sale, haha.
Cuphead for switch. I'm super late. i haven't beaten a damn thing yet but it's so fun. everything is cell animation 1930's style--soundtrack and sound effects too. Deeelightful--and without all the shitty racist gags!
Currently the games I play with the little time I have after work and my time with my girlfriend are : STEAM : Bioshock Infinite - Currently playing Cup Head (DWTD) - Playing with my Girlfriend Blasphemous I COD : Black Ops 2 COD: Black Ops COD : Modern Warfare 2,3 The big boss :
My most recent physical purchase, its Japan-only for the cart release but it does support English language. This is an amazing little twin-stick shooter. It has an accomplished art style and smooth responsive gameplay. I'd say its the kind of shmup, that people who don't usually enjoy shoot 'em ups would most likely enjoy this. Twin-stick is always fun, movement with the left analogue, shoot and aim in any direction with the right.
Latest physical, Trouble Witches Final. This is an indie cute 'em up that received an arcade release as well as ports to various consoles with spruced-up graphics and extra modes. Its similar to other shmups like 'Cotton' and 'Deathsmiles' ... they're all chaotic, a bit barmy and a lot of fun.
I’m playing fallout 4 after watching the series on Amazon prime and enjoying it. Before that I was vaguely aware of the series but had never played one… it seems pretty deep, I’ve only played a few hours and I’m just trying to get a handle on all the available options and things to do. And get used to the combat. But so far so good.
I wanna jump back in and finally finish a Fallout game. I have a tendency to get overwhelmed by crafting systems, and this is one of those games where you can’t really ignore it. But maybe I don’t have to compulsively hoard either…maybe I should look at it like Zelda on Switch, and not get too attached to my weapons.
I agree with what you’re saying. There is almost too much to keep track of and manage. I don’t know how I feel about managing shelters and farms and defensive structures and whatnot while also trying to roam around and play the main quest.
The shelter portion isn't as necessary as they make it seem. I haven't played it since it came out, but if I recall correctly, you can put just about as much or as little effort into the base building as you like. I didn't like that aspect and recall largely ignoring it outside of things being necessary. I recall making an abandoned gas station my home base so I didn't have to do too much running around / building. Game is pretty fun over all though, especially if you take time with the quests / narrative. If you like the game it's probably worth checking out New Vegas as well.
Done with Persona 3. Great game. Gotta get to Persona 4 soon, but I need a lighter game or two, first. I’m really close to finishing Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origins, I think. That’s a fun game, but it’s not “Final Fantasy + Dark Souls”, the way it was pitched to me.
Fallout 4 is one of my all time favorite games. The settlement building portion is almost like second game. I found that on my initial play through, I didn’t pay much attention to it until I had significantly leveled up. At that point, it became a more laid back activity to do between quests. After watching the show, my son asked to start his own character. He’s having a blast so far. I think @hellopike is still ahead of him, level-wise but it’s getting close. Haha. Even though they are close in terms of level, they took very different routes to get there. I love that. There’s just so much you can do and so many different ways to do it.
Holy shit, I just beat Panel de Pon! I wasn't sure if I'd ever do it! I've been addicted to this game for months, playing for too long most nights. Will be good to get that time back in my evenings.
Latest physical shmup ... this is an old classic thats been updated for modern consoles. Its basically the Mega Drive (Sega Genesis) sprites, but with spruced-up backgrounds etc. I could of waited for the LRG 'Steel Empire Chronicles' pre-order but i don't fancy giving them my money and then waiting two years for the game
Hotline Miami OMFG!! I bought a physical Switch game that isn't a Shmup!! ... released on the Switch in 2019, so i'm late to the party on this one. Its fast and simple, and not easy, but i'm liking the first game so far. I unlocked the Samurai Sword last night, its extremely brutal for a cute looking game!
This game is super fun! Also, it's almost mandatory to play this one with headphones. So if you haven't tried that mid recommend it.
