Old fashioned I know... But so beautiful on a cccccold winter night, with the heater and fireplace burning, and cats on your lap ...No. 21, Andante -starting at 1:17:40 is esp. nice and...
Mainly the beats, but the slow paced flow of the rhymes, too. It wasn't mirrored music or even shared styles. It just put Lil' B's music in my head.

2013 seems like it was a bit blegh.. I can't think of too many releases that are memorable. I guess Moving Mountains, Touche Amore, Shai Hulud and The National were good.. Haven't even really gotten into the new Blood Orange and I was really looking forward to that. Actually there was a new Owen album so I guess this year wasn't al that bad.. Anybody have any suggestions for me? I feel like either this year was shit or I'm losing touch in my old age..
Some releases I've enjoyed this year: Disclosure - Settle Jessie Ware - Devotion Holy Ghost! - Dynamics Kurt Vile - Wakin on a Pretty Daze Youth Lagon - Wondrous Bughouse Thundercat - Apocalypse Run the Jewels - s/t
Not sure if anyone here listens to them, but Mogwai's new album - Rave Tapes is available for free streaming here - http://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2014/jan/14/mogwai-rave-tapes-album-stream
I was slightly disappointed by the first Eno & Hyde project "Someday World" ... somehow the songs seemed to just sit there making fancy noise, but never really taking off. But the duo's second project together, "High Life," recorded just a few months later, is a hundred times better by all accounts. A bit of the old "Bush of Ghosts" and "Remain in Light" polyrhythmic instrumental complexity back in play. Recommended if you like your Art Rock with a bit of African Funk in the mix.
Caustic Window has been on repeat lately. Whirr's new single has been on repeat daily. I remember hearing them play this when they were in town and they kind of sucked, but recorded its really good.
Just got these in the mail today. Working on finishing up the Parliament catalog. Only a couple of more to go before I have all their studio albums (already have all the Funkadelic albums). I have to get them all before I see George Clinton in August!!!
If you haven't already you might also want to check out "Never Buy Texas from a Cowboy" by the Brides of Funkenstein. Nice to see the best thing the Residents ever did here ... see also Renaldo and the Loaf ... who aren't actually The Residents by another name, honest!
