A quick note on Feb 1st US Tariff Act on CAN/MEX/CHN: "Trump’s actions also closed a loophole that exempted packages worth less than $800 from tariffs. Extinguishing the so-called de minimis exemption for small parcels sent to the US.." So that's a bummer..
"Most Japanese companies with operations in the United States are preparing for possible additional tariffs under the i̶n̶c̶o̶m̶i̶n̶g̶ Trump administration, according to a survey released on Friday by the Japan External Trade Organization."
This nickle & dime bs along with the 1099-K thresholds being lowered to an unbelievable $600 USD/year (maybe sooner for some states than others based on latest IRS memo). I'm sure we will see VAT soon enough as well.
Big Bad Toy Store sent out a notice saying that pre-order prices are going to be honored but they will be absorbing "millions of dollars" in costs due to the new tariffs. Meanwhile, many upcoming items on their site like Marvel Legends have had their prices bumped up. Anyone else hearing things?

I'm seeing 24% on Japan, which seems the most relevant for us "home" importers. China's at 34% which help explains why companies like SuperPlastic are just deciding to close up shop. Really worried about how this'll affect S7. Hopefully they've made moves to shift production elsewhere but even India and Vietnam are on this list..
From a practical standpoint, our household eats a lot of groceries from Asia. Condiments, tea, sauces, dried goods, frozen groceries, and fresh groceries. Going to head out and stock up now. Ugh!
From a Reddit comment: "According to CNBC correspondent Eamon Javers, Press Secretary Leavitt has confirmed that the 34% China tariff is on top of the previous 20% tariff, meaning it will be a 54% rate on China once implemented." Crazy if true.
I think Superplastic shutting down ( or pausing) is real. Sounds like they are keeping some characters ‘alive’ with marketing videos for when (or if) this shitstorm ends, but they are selling off their stock for 79% off. It does not impact me since their stuff isn’t something I want. I wonder what Mondo will do - the tariff for Vietnamese is 46%. The ‘alternatives’ to Japan are about the same cost now. Wish the gargamel lucky bags had hit a few months back.
