With a title like that i thought we were going to be talking about some really janky badly painted stuff for some reason. X'D These are really cool though. I really like Gas Phantom, Robo Reaper and X-2. Those color combos for those particular figures are really nice.
Is there any background on these guys? I haven't much cared for the ReAction line but these guys are so original. Especially enjoy Gad Phantom with the rope or noose around his neck.
Yeah, I'm with @IronPaw . Really into these guys, but I am clueless of their origin. Does anyone care to clue me in?
@IronPaw @patrickvaz Straight up evil doers! Original designs by Josh and Brian, zero Funko involvement. A few words about the line at 2m53s:
It's kind of funny how much I love these. I also don't have any ReAction figures, just because I'm into original characters rather than movie/TV stuff... but these are really fun and kind of funny, too. Batula and Snake-Tut are a riot. Really love the backer art for all of them though!
Great job guys. These are a little tounge-in-cheek (but not too much), great B-movie pulpy feel to the characters, while still original and well executed. Fun toys. These feel like they could have stepped out of some pulpy novel/comic set in the early 1900's. The aesthetic is spot-on.
I couldn't agree more, @Michael Beverage. Easily my favorite thing that S7 has had a hand in in a long time, and that's counting the Alien crew. I don't chase any 3.75" lines, but I'd display these scoundrels with pride. A total success. All the little details are great, but I'm especially taken with how Robot Reaper is pointing his finger, as if to say, "You're next!"
What's up with all the versions popping up from China? There are shit ton that say from SDCC on ebay. Is it some viral marketing?
Wow, looks like they're walking out the back door of the factory. I don't think this is viral marketing, the seller also has Gentle Giant upscaled Star Wars figures for $40 each. This has been going on for a while, you can also find bagged Alien Reaction figures for under $5 each, shipped.
I was going to say maybe these were rejects from the factory, bad paint jobs/joints etc. - but the paint apps on releases I've seen on the racks in shops look pretty horrible already
Pretty nifty news right here: The Worst TV Series Is Coming... Hit Villainous Toy Line “The Worst” Will Be Made Into an Animated TV Series by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios and Super7 New York / Los Angeles – February 17, 2017 – Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the award winning animation studio behind “Robot Chicken,” “SuperMansion” starring Bryan Cranston, and the upcoming Netflix series “Buddy Thunderstruck”, and San Francisco based toy and apparel company Super7 announced today at Toy Fair in New York that they are teaming to develop an all new animated television series based on Super7’s popular toy line “The Worst.” There are good guys. There are bad guys. And then there are…“The Worst”! Created in 2016 as a standalone toy line, “The Worst” began with Super7 looking back historically at their favorite franchises and finding that the best (or worst) characters in any given series were usually the villains. With that in mind, “The Worst” grew into an all new line of characters that were the best of the worst, and became an overnight hit with collectors, immediately selling out limited run action figures within days of release. In the dead of night, “The Worst” are unleashed! The most villainously vile vermin ever assembled lurk in the shadows and plot their evil deeds. What's the Worst that could happen? Definitely do not expect them to play nice! “The Worst” are the meanest of the mean and the baddest of the bad – simply put, they are the Worst bad guys ever! Their unholy alliance (all of whom will be title characters in the new animated series) features: Black Falcon - Undead Warlord of Doom Robot Reaper - Robotic Harbinger of Death X-2 the Unknown - Mysterious Shadow Assassin Gas Phantom - Ethereal Specter of Evil Batula - Bat Prince of Darkness Snake Tut - Serpent God of Destruction Super7 Founder Brian Flynn said, "We are really excited about the opportunity to share ‘The Worst’ ideas we have ever had with the world. Starting with toys, and now moving into animation, we look forward to having worse ideas with even worse partners to create ‘The Worst’ animation ever." "Being the nerds of nostalgia that we are, we were all in as soon as we saw the art on the packaging for ‘The Worst’ figures. What could be better than awesome heavy metal inspired art with action figures that only have 5 points of articulation? Answer? A cartoon!" said Stoopid Buddy Stoodios co-founder John Harvatine IV. Led by founders and partners Seth Green, John Harvatine IV, Matthew Senreich and Eric Towner, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios is well known for its Emmy Award-winning stop motion sketch comedy television series “Robot Chicken” which recently aired its eighth season, created and executive produced by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich along with co-head writers Douglas Goldstein and Tom Root for Adult Swim. The team is currently in production on a new special themed to “The Walking Dead” that will premiere in 2017. They are also the brains behind Sony Crackle’s hugely successful “SuperMansion” starring Bryan Cranston, Yvette Nicole Brown, Keegan-Michael Key and Chris Pine. Season 2 began streaming on February 16. Most recently, they were responsible for Netflix’s new stop-motion children’s series “Buddy Thunderstruck” in collaboration with American Greetings Entertainment. The highly anticipated show will begin streaming on March 10. http://www.leagueofbuddies.com/5842/the-worst-animated-series-in-development/ I'll confess a bit of excitement.
This animated series sounds like it will be awesome. Great, unique, characters I can't wait for it. I'd also love to work on it.
The MUSCLE versions of these guys look amazing!!! SeriouslySillyK killed these sculpts! Pics at ToyArk!! http://news.toyark.com/2017/02/18/toy-fair-2017-super-7-muscle-super-size-figures-240853 I think we may need a dedicated thread to just MUSCLE.
The MUSCLE stuff is getting too good now. I wish someone would pick them up for UK distribution though: the shipping alone on my Street Fighter set was more than the actual toys!
Yeah. I mean oh my god! The Worst is gonna become an animated show. Will each episode be a new grand diabolical scheme that somehow gets foiled at the last moment? I hope in the future we're all arguing over which character is the coolest on the show. This cartoon is such exciting news! See, this is the thing with Super7, following the company's evolvement and unique style approaches to everything they do is almost as much fun as collecting the artwork they produce. ALL the toy fair reveals are amazing! Literally awesomeness stacked on awesomeness. ROBOTECH!!!
