Thank you for this, I stopped reading once they wrote in the spoiler alert but i'll check it out after the season is over
Even though there were no major deaths and the finale was a little too hyped up prior, I actually enjoyed it. I enjoyed the finale (and the season as a whole) more than i have previous finales of recent memory.
Bad, really bad.... Spoiler This finale sort of sucked IMO. The extra 20 minutes of actual air time (90 minutes my ass- more like 64 with prime commercial air time) could have been put to better use. For example who the fuck cares about Gabriel at this point? Why waste minutes on him? Guy is like a toothless phantom menace! So let's tally the score. It's ok to put down Pete because he is abusive to his wife and reckless, and I agree with that- BUT Gabriel who has proven to be nothing but a thorn in this group's side since day one almost costing people's lives is allowed to live? Again can't have it both ways! #2 WTF Glenn? Same scenario as Gabriel almost with Nicholas- let him die! Why do you care that rat faced Nicholas jumped the wall? Why follow him? He then shoots you and then you still follow him beat him up only to take him back. This guy has gotten people killed. This guy wants to kill you. Why oh why after 5 seasons on WD with all the bad people you've met would you revert back to being naive? you said as much this season already. Total 360 of character development and pointless plot device to waste minutes on that whole showdown in the woods #3 If Sasha was really as scarred as she seems I think she would have put a bullet in Gabriel! #4 Wolves are Davidson and his friend which Aaron mentions were exiled I think, which is that long haired guy that Morgan encounters in the beginning. Makes sense because Aaron said it was early on so maybe the walls weren't up yet (he looks at the pics at the end). He was said to be smart and maybe he's mounting revenge on Alexandria.
I think the thing with Gabriel and Nicolas is to show the group hasn't lost their humanity. It shows that, as we are with family and friends, once you are part of the group you will always be a part as long as you are honest about who you are and ask for some forgiveness for being what you are. It is only through the catharsis of honesty and openness to our inner pains that we can move on. Losing more people does the group no favors unless those people are to broken and righteous to face their own truths and try to overcome.
I was really hoping they'd took Glen off. . . And I wonder who Rick really shot. Maybe it's not who they want us to beleive?
awesome, Love it. Morgan will come around... those two he left in the car will come back to haunt him. wish we would have gotten a few more episodes like the last few we've gotten.
I pretty much agree with Lixx' criticism, though in all honesty even with all that it still makes it an above average episode in my book. As a finale... well it didn't really feel like one, but I will be much happier them picking up where they left off with this story arc I can stand watching rather than more "on the road what are we gonna do now" nonsense or whatever they would have to come up with if it were a more climactic ending. I've just come to accept that the "mains" are always going to waffle between reasonable acts to survive and being incredibly naive such that the viewer is supposed to think they are "good" or what have you. It's annoying, but simple folk who need their heroes to be unambiguous "good guys" demand that I guess. If I were a writer, I would have Glenn's decision end up getting Maggie killed next season, forcing him to cut that sort of shit out for good.
I have to agree, but it was still enjoyable even with its many faults. It was good to see Morgan back and kicking-arse Bruce Lee style, for example. Yeah, thats the feeling i got from those scenes too. Also, am i the only one who thinks the actress who plays Deanna (the leader of the safe zone) is a bit shit? Whenever she's in a scene it really ruins my suspension of disbelief . . . .
I thought the gunshot was Spoiler rick shooting Deanna's husband in the head so he wouldn't turn. on The Talking Dead they said he shot the surgeon on Deanna's orders?
I took it as this. ^^^ Spoiler There was the scene in an earlier episode between Rick and Deanna at the makeshift cemetery where Rick suggests permanently dealing with the doctor. Deanna said her style was to exile people. So during the finale, her "Do it, Rick." was her agreeing with Rick's methods. Also in regards to Morgan, a coworker of mine noted: Spoiler That when Aaron asked Morgan why he saved him and Daryl from the Wolves zombies, Morgan replied that all life is precious. Cut to the end, where Morgan arrives and first thing he sees is Rick executing someone. Future friction?
Well: But more interested in (despite teenage element): I like Cliff Curtis as an actor so that's a start...
I have zero interest in walking dead, but I enjoyed this interview a lot. Thought the people that frequent this thread might be interested. http://wtfpod.libsyn.com/episode-619-robert-kirkman-bob-fingerman
Heads Up ! Fear the Walking Dead is on tonight. Haven't read anything about it to avoid any kind of expectations.
was there a season 5 marathon today? i think i totally missed it. anyone know if season 5 will be shown from episode 1 again? netflix?
Last I heard the netflix deal was still in place. So as usual they should have the last season up around the same time the new season begins. It really is a much better show without all the commercials.
That's how I've watched it since the show began- commercial free with a season pass on iTunes. Don't get to see it till Monday mornings but I've never dealt with one commercial ever. I was over Kim's parents house once when it was on and saw what people who watch it on AMC have to deal with. Quite distracting and annoying. The new series isn't too bad. Although the mass lock down of the school because of a weird shooting on a highway the night before left me scratching my head. I mean there was mention of a flu going around but we all know that's BS and completely unrelated to what is really going down. Did anyone catch Randy from the Wire as Alicia's boyfriend who is probably dead now anyhow. Wire alum continue on AMC lol.
that dude put his hand in junkie blood. he should have cut it off on the spot & mounted a shotgun or chainsaw to the bloody stump.
Do you have the episode on itunes? Go to the -3:01 mark (3 minutes 1 sec left in the show) and you can clearly see Zombie Calvin's mouth/teeth wrapped around Madison's arm. She is wearing that jacket and we don't see him bite down (guess Travis pulled her back in time) but yeah for my money it looks like she's getting bit (but you know she doesn't)
