Yeah I know it's preference, but the Shik bags (at least IMO) make those Gargamel LB's pale in comparison. I mean having ALL the Standard figures (or in Shikaruna's case somewhat bigger than standard) hand painted, and with such a varied assortment of possibility you could get, it is the wiser choice. Especially since the price was the same or less. From what I've seen of Gargamels LB's pretty much with an exception or two everyone got almost the same thing. jcat did you get two Lucky Bag's?
Got my LB from Lulu this afternoon. My standard size figure is a clear Khappa with light spray on the face and shell. I've seen one similar to it, but the paint is slightly different. The SP is a mini Bagun 1 painted a deep blue. It looks very much like the illustration from Nakaoka's book. There were 3 minis, not 2. The other 2 were the new painted Chiwos mini and a clear painted Mighty mini. All in all, very, very pleased. Will take photos tonight. Anyone else receive their LBs yet? EDIT:
didn't get my shipping email on my LB yet from Lulu.......sounds like I should hopefully be getting it shortly.....the anticipation is killing me
I think Shikaruna got a little backed up with the GID Maddalla painting, LB's and preparing for the Wonder Festival this weekend. I got word that my stuff would not be shipped till after the festival over the weekend. I'm dying with anticipation as it is the last thing I've been waiting for (and the most wanted!)
I wasnt a big fan of the khappa before, but seeing it with minimal paint application makes it's features stand out and it looks great. Less is more in this case. Nice stuff....
I totally agree with you, this paint version really just grabbed my attention. I love Siccaluna figures but some of the paint apps just have to much going on and ruins it for me. I would like to see this with some of the other sculpts now. Was this a one off or is there more of these in other bags ?
Yeah, I definitely appreciate the restraint shown on the Khappa. After becoming well-known for lavish, vibrant paint schemes, it is interesting to see S-K hold back on a few of these newer pieces (brown Marine Kong also comes to mind). Not a one-off. The mini Bagun was my SP for that bag. I was surprised at the softness of the clear vinyl. It's almost gummy.
That clear Kappa is the full-size one, right? It's gorgeous...but I've handled that sculpt before--it's cool, but it's almost too big! I'm more interested in that mini kappa...
Yeah, full size. I also prefer the mini Khappa, which seems more in scale with the other Genju figures from S-K. This one could be a real kappa... almost child-sized.
I have mostly collected M1 figures ( mostly ), but am starting to think I need to get a few Shikaruna figures. These Lucky Bag Figures are killin' it. That is my favorite version I have seen of their Kappa. Congrats on the score.
My lucky bag contained a one off p. 131 space monster, a clear unpainted Madalla, and clear painted 4-arm Zagora and Bagun 1. I picked up the silver Tegon, another Bagun 1 and the Igarl from YJA. If anyone has any other silver minis or a clear painted standard Khappa they want to sell/trade, hit me up.
I don't think I have ever seen a LB release where I would have been happy to have scored any of the ones I have seen so far. Each one is unique and have loaded with wonderful surprises.
This is kinda a stupid question, but are the full-size Shik's really big, or the minis really small? They are great looking sculpts.
