Come on bro. You act like these toys don’t mean a lot to us. The fact that we’re constantly trying to collect them, take photos of them, go to conventions on other parts of the planet for them. Then when people get emotional about them, peeps come out and say “it’s just a toy.” I feel like on this board, the majority of people here would agree that toys are more of a need than a want. I need beautiful things in my life. Everyone does. There is so much tragedy, chaos, insanity, violence, etc. going on that if you don’t have things that bring you joy you will go crazy. To me, art and toys are those beautiful things that bring me joy. So to me, it’s not just a toy..
If a bloke is mad at his wife, and wants to vent on a nerdy chatboard she will never look at, I say more power to him. Some people just don't like candidness.
It’s just a toy. Everything around the toy (friendships, history/influences that went into the toy, reverence for a particular maker, your own collecting preferences) make it special. This particular toy won’t make your life any better. Pitching a fit on a public message board doesn’t accomplish anything either. I entered for the lotto, I’m a diehard Shirahama fan. If I miss it, I’ll find it in aftermarket eventually, or Dennis will make another rad colorway.
Honestly I don’t really care about the candidness. I’m not really friends with anyone on here anyway. Maybe one or two people, the rest I’ve never met. I just needed a place to vent, thanks for understanding.
I sort of feel like this whole argument is a bit moot as we are all nerds on an internet toy forum anyways. And I didn't read that as anything more that a bit of random comment, expressing toy frustration - as silly as it very much is - we've all felt. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You don't get to feel the joy without the other side of the coin, by it's very nature that is what passion is about. But anyhow, let's not divert from these cool figures, I assume anybody reading this thread is here to appreciate that. But all aside now, who is raising their hand now that the spelling was accidental versus intentional? That's what we should all be talking about!
The almost seamless transition between vintage marusan dino's and this new t-rex sculpt is what sold me on it. Very excited to see where he takes it with vinyl colors and paint but this first release is definitely a strong start!
Disagree. Food, water and shelter are needs. A toy is a first world want. Good luck, I have the utmost confidence that you will score one.
It’s ‘just a toy’ when someone’s upset about missing entering a lotto over a real - life incident, but it’s perfectly okay to shit bricks and talk all sorts of mad shit when the same toys are being flipped and bootlegged? Let the fuckin’ guy have a moment like everyone else, even if you don’t agree with it. Dude’s human. Anyway, I had to opt out of this lotto, but I’m really excited Dennis has continued to expand Shirahama with such variety in his visual arsenal. Spiders, skulls, cats, a wolf, towers. I’m still wondering if this rex has, or will have, an official name. Dennis being the vintage connoisseur he is, there really is an immense show of appreciation for the history in this sculpt, and it’s paints. I’d love to maybe see a Marusan Doragirasu paint on one of these, or some Muira Toy homages!
I don't want to speak for @eckotyper, but "I don't know if I can even look at my wife in the face today I'm so fucking pissed" is...not exactly a healthy attitude to have for anything, let alone "just a toy" Nonetheless, the toy is cool and I'm happy to see any additional Shirahama output in general. Dennis is patron saint in this hobby and any way I can support him directly or indirectly I'll give it the ol' 24 hour window e-mail entry
I took that in pertaining to their incident, and not because she “caused” him to miss the lotto. Is it healthy? Probably not. Is it human? Of course. I’m personally also a big fan of the 24 hour lotto window. Less stress on the artist and puts a bit of a rush in my veins to get an entry in!
Everyone seems to be missing the obvious point that it was clearly his fault he missed the lotto and not his wife’s nvmd, gatio already pointed it out
I don't know how old he is, but I'm sure he'd love some of those new Jurassic Park dino toys just as much. You could get more than a few for the same price as the T-Rex.
WoW stuffs are happening in here! Came to see if anyone got lucky (with toy, not spouses). I couldn’t enter this one but will probably hunt it down later. What a great sculpt! I would love to see a pink one.
This lil’ one off Paul painted, presumably, for his own, personal collection absolutely deserves a spot here!!!
