I can't wait for this one either!
Joy in soft vinyl form. Also the missing link with vintage Marusan:
If anyone’s gonna put somethin’ like this out in 2021 I’m glad it’s Dennis and Shirahama Toy. Perfectly bridges the gap between payin’ homage to its vintage predecessor roots while also bein’ very modern. Love, love, love that blue vinyl. Not enough toys get pulled in that color. The deep blue belly, silver highlights/teeth, red mouth and yellow eyes all perfectly contrast against the base vinyl.
Good enough to make me go back to collecting soft dinos. Super nice in that blue
This was the best email I've received in a while, and it wasn't even about a confirmed release, let alone that I was a lucky chosen one. The T-rex is executed to perfection, in my opinion. I could not think of a better person to bring such life to this 'missing' Marusan; Dennis has perfectly captured the fun, wonky proportions and all, of the original series. The blue is a perfect companion colour, and the colourway as shown (if it is what he eventually goes with) is a real treat. This is basically the childhood vinyl dinosaur we all wanted. And those arms, man, ballsy to try and pull those out of the mold, but if anyone can achieve that level of craft in traditional soft vinyl it is Dennis. way (way) up from me.
* secretly I sort of hope everyone hates this because it is not edgy, giant, or 'graphic' enough, and this becomes an accessible toy for the folks who see and appreciate its beauty.
It's a great sculpt and fits so well with the Marusan dinos. It's going to look great in green, too.
I would love to see one of these T-REXs in blank olive green or with a marbled in earth colors and with Dennis's mastery to make vinyl marbling it would look great.
My childhood nostalgia kicks in. I love this.
I don't have the Marusan dinos but I live this enough that I want him to have friends haha
Absolutely loving this dino and my 3 year old son is as well! If I end up scoring one, I’m gonna have a hard time keeping it on the shelf and out of his toy box..
I appreciate the rolls on this fella / gal. Lots of the dino toys I grew up with were lean, skin stuck to the bones type sculpts.
I hope this kicks off a trend of dinosaur toys, thats it just dinosaurs. No crazy aliens, just plain, meat and potatoes dinosaurs.
Rotting zombie Dinosaurs with dicks, boobs and swastika's . . . check!
People will make what they want to make, I suppose.
I predict when this is released, those of us who manage to get one will be on the hunt for vintage and reissue Marusan dinosaurs we don't already have. ;p
Not to flame the vintage hunt barrel, but these are fairly easily obtainable (both neo and OG versions) and so that is good news for anyone who has not been aware of these to date. The vintage come in Marusan and Bullmark editions, as well as some poly bootlegs.
