Precisely what the game is right now. Walk and hope you find something interesting... Not "OH LOOK WHAT'S ON THE LIST, LET'S FIND IT!" But hey, the API has been reverse engineered, so we'll see third-party trackers coming back up soon.
Cool. Going to use them this time if so. Kanto is at 87, and first time catches are getting tough to come by.
So I downloaded "GoRadar" today. It's pretty reliable. Led me straight to a Magmar... That got away. But still led me right to him. It also tells you the time till it despawns, if you click on the Pokemon.
^^ the app also lets you favorite Pokemon and it'll notify you when they are close. They reversed engineered the API, and it shows all the pokemon that are on the way as well... Gen 2 and all!
radargo is a crowdsourced tracker, so if you're somewhere without many players, the app is basically useless. big city users should find it helpful.
Encryption has been cracked, so until Niantic updates it again, trackers/scanners are up and running.
what sites/ios apps have you found that use niantic's servers? so far i've only found crowdsourced trackers that are pretty limited
What do you do when there is a Snorlax lurking and you just can't find him? Restrain yourself from throwing your damn phone that's what!
just opened the app and saw this funky looking "sightings" screen instead of "nearby". anyone notice any other updates?
Most likely that meant he was around hours before you started hunting. Haven't seen the blades of grass jawn yet, but the old nearby list was absolutely worthless. Mayhaps that update will solve things? Not holding my breath.
So it gets rid of duplicates and is more accurate now from what I can see and it actually has the correct spawn/despawn times as well. They are testing a feature, lucky bastards that got the beta, that lets you click on a Pokemon in the nearby and then it drops a pin on your screen like here I am. It also shows the poke stop it is closest to
Yep, most Californians near San Fran got the beta. The "Sightings" thing is just an improved "Nearby" thing. The list before was out of order, the Pokemon would not leave the list if you got out of range or if the Pokemon despawned... Now it shows Pokemon that are within 200m and when the Pokemon leaves the list, that means it's no longer within 200m of you, or just despawned completely. A big improvement over having a Pokemon linger on your list and frustratingly not being able to find it anywhere, because it likely isn't there anymore!
The new tracking I'm hearing is awesome... I didnt get it yet... but there is Nearby, and there is Sightings... the Nearby shows a real world location clue. i'm actually thinking its the nearest poke stop it is too... and i heard if you click on the one you are tracking, it will actually show where it is on the map... they still can flee, and it will post a prompt on the screen, if the pokemon does flee... on a brighter note... at sdcc i bought 19.99 in poke coins, went to the store to use, they ddint show up... i figured must not of worked, bought 19.99 again... then $39.98 worth of coins are in my account. UGH!... after the recent updates and them taking tracking off, i explained to apple i bought those coins to use on my trip because tracking was working. and the coins were pointless to me as the game wasnt running the same way it was upon my purchase... i got a full refund and kept the coins.
From what I've read online a lot of people are being charged twice when they purchase coins. This new update with sightings is nice, we actually have a way to "track" the little monsters now. I have also noticed the spawns that pop up are different and varie more. Not just pidgy and ekans all over the place. I usually see the same things around my house, these past two days I've seen a hitmonlee and a flareon pop up in the tracking section. Its nice to see this game moving a long quickly as far as fixes and updates go. It's only been out for a month now. I'm still looking forward to what more the game has to offer.
Will certainly make things easier once the full update rolls out for everyone. I am seeing a lot more pokemon spawn, and am certainly glad that the nearby list isn't lying to us anymore.
I am loving the new tracking! Got a 999 Hitmonchan and a 1048 Graveler with relative ease. Also found a nice high level Eevee that evolved into a 1900+ Vaporeon!
anyone try and evolve a Meowth yet? I've done it twice now. Stupid amounts of stardust needed for Meowth to level up.... but the highest I have ever found was 390. I want a high powered Persian dammit!
