    @Dean @useless toys @etc ---

Two ways - click on the SHARE PHOTO icon and choose BBCode; cut n' paste the size of your choice here.
OR, and this is handy, click on the DOWNLOAD PHOTO icon, choose View all sizes,
    [IMG]
pick one, and then either right click to copy the code and put that in brackets here - Example:
    Code:
    https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4332/36979769862_5a065f2832_c.jpg
would go in the tag like so:
    [img]https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4332/36979769862_5a065f2832_c.jpg[/img]
or, from the same page, you can just right click on the pic, select COPY IMAGE, and then just paste that here; no code necessary!

    Quick IG tutorial to follow.

Are the pictures set to Public on Flickr? It not you need to change that and then use the BBCode from Flickr itself not the image button here.

Also, if you're Instagram account is set to private no one will be able to see your pics here.

Ooh, I like this! Thanks @toothaction.

    ^^^ Good point, Mark!

    So...

    For Instagram ---
Extract the pic ID itself and place just that between IG tags:
    Code:
    Not https://www.instagram.com/p/Ba9-2WPnwjs/
    but Ba9-2WPnwjs
    And not https://www.instagram.com/p/BbvYyzpnHGs/
    but BbvYyzpnHGs
    Then:
    [INSTA]Ba9-2WPnwjs[/INSTA]
    [INSTA]BbvYyzpnHGs[/INSTA]

    Presto!

Flickr mobile site hides it. If your phone browser has a "view desktop site" option click that and the download image icon will be there.

Switched from Xperia to iphone a few weeks back and can no longer post Instagram images on here. I would always do so same way @toothaction described above too.

Instagram image ID, which is Bga3Hubls , placed between (INSTA) and (/INSTA) , but with brackets instead of parentheses, just gives me this -
    Bga3Hubls/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading" data-instgrm-version="14" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);">
    Bga3Hubls/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading" style=" background:#FFFFFF; line-height:0; padding:0 0; text-align:center; text-decoration:none; width:100%;" target="_blank">

Is there an iphone setting that I have set wrong? Anyone else having the same issue?

Thank ya mod squad in advance.

^ an SB member just clued me in and it's remarkably easy.

If using an iphone, just paste the entire Instagram image URL (do not attach it to any other code), and once posted, it will show the image instead of the link. The forum automatically translates it into a media file.

    BOOM Shaka Laka!
    Thanks Again

Thanks for sharing JP. Sorry, I don't know much about any cell phone accessibility from the website, as it isn't something I use, or I certainly would have chimed in here, but I am glad you figured it out. You'd think we were moving towards an era of more compatibility with different technologies, but unfortunately, it seems the more ubiquitous its use becomes, the more these companies want everything to be their own [or nothing].

I am just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing the issue lately where, when you click on a thread with unread topics, it is not redirecting you to the first unread, but rather the first in the thread. This seems to have started for me sometime in the past couple weeks, and is consistent across a couple browsers. Interesting though, it doesn't seem to affect all threads; case in point, I opened this discussion, and it did end up bringing me right to the end.

I'm wondering, is there some sort of backup being made of Skullbrain, in case the plug gets pulled unexpectedly? What makes me think about this is the unfortunate situation with the Toybox DX BBS, where it was taken down due to a migration issue. Unfortunately there was a lot of knowledge tied up in that place and it's inaccessible for the forseeable future. Would be a shame if the same thing happened here.

    ^ Wake up, James!

Wish I knew. I can tell you that everything that happened prior to the platform migration was archived, for what that's worth, but I'll have to do some digging to find the addy.

The server that our site is hosted on regularly makes backups of the full site. I haven't set up any service to externally back up the database of the forum, but it's not a bad idea. I'll look into it.

Great, thanks for responding and looking into it.

This is something I was thinking about because of what happened with the ToyboxDX BBS: the board software was taken down a couple of years ago and hasn't been brought back up. Like Skullbrain, there's a lot of information locked away in those TBDX and CDX posts that nobody can access now. CollectionDX is also going through a situation where they are considering shuttering their site.

In case the lights are suddenly shut off at Skullbrain, or the site gets wrecked by bad actors, it would be nice to think that there is some way of restarting the board somewhere else, or at the very least that the content could be accessed in some static form.

I think I may have suggested this a few times in the past, but it would be really great if we could search through PMs/conversations. If you're like me, have been around this place for several years, and like talking silly toys at great length with your fellow weirdos nuts enthusiasts, then odds are good you might have a hundred plus pages of old discussions sitting in your board message box, which you might also like to occasionally try and pull out a nugget from.

In any case, this has always really frustrated me, as it is next to impossible to find anything in there, even when you remember it existed. The search function on the board has never been the best, fair enough, but still, would be nice to have and should - in theory - be quite easy to implement (one would think). So anyhow, finally got off my proverbial butt and did a quick search. It does seem like this is a tool which exists, in some format, for Xenforo.

    Conversation search
    https://xenforo.com/community/resources/conversation-search.2807/

    Conversation search plus
    https://xenforo.com/community/resources/conversation-search-plus.6504/

These were just a quick two hits, but maybe there is something more out there we can think about integrating into the next round of changes.

To honor the late, great Ennio Morricone, wouldn't it be great to now finally implement the possibility to embed media from SoundCloud?

The Instagram button might as well be removed. Board getting littered with broken image URLs. Maybe add this as a new unwritten rule too? Too lazy to upload images to a working image sharing platform = don't post it.

    Site "Not Secure"?

I believe this has been like this for some time.
If I try connecting via https://skullbrain.org.. or https://www.skullbrain.org.. I get an error:
    This site can’t be reached
    skullbrain.org refused to connect.

    Try:

    ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I think this has to do with port 443 not configured on the host server for TLS/HTTPS, but I could be wrong.
Chrome readily redirects a typed in url like 'apple.com' to the secure site.

    Is https://skullbrain.org supposed to work?

Yes, the site is not served up via HTTPS and doesn't have a valid security certificate. It's been this way as long as I can remember.

@TiredChildren I've noticed that Instagram embeds have stopped working in the past couple of weeks. Do you know if this is due to an outage or some change that Meta has implemented?

Just checking, has anyone had any contact with @TiredChildren lately? I asked to have a user approved about a month ago and he never got back to me. I sent him a friend request and message via Facebook, but no response, and all of his other social media is quiet.
