for some reason, marusan had a love for bird kaiju. glad to see you have an intrest in seeing more of these blakewest. the whole idea behind the vintage section of the board is to keep people excited about collecting, and spur new intrest in this area.
I have been enjoying the thread so much. From way back when Roger posted the wonderful article about the history of Marusan ( belated thanks is owed you), to all the breathtakingly beautiful toys of vintage vinyl. This is such an untapped area for me and I really want to have my interests/knowledge expanded in the world of vintage vinyl. I really appreciate all the info/images guys.
Vintagevinyl, those pictures give me chills. Great shots of some fantastic toys. I wish I was that good at shooting my own dudes. Thank you so much!
Blake, that insert was a reprint of a section of a book that covered the vinyls. It wasn't a catalog. A few items pictured on that page (like the giant size ones) weren't reissued. Don't remember whether or not Seabull was, though.
the paper insert that came out with the re-issues of the marusan originals, is almost exactly the same as what came in the 1971 packaging. the large size (like this one) came with a color fold out. i also found out about these vinyls through the re issue insert catalog. your looking at the vinyl i circled first, and spent years looking to see if one was even ever made let alone buy.
holy shit !!! that may be the the best color combination i have EVER seen on a new vinyl !! how badly do i have to grovel to get one ?
Dorango + Galapagos (blue) Dorango red reissue Dorango + Galapagos (brown) Finally finished my set of the 4 normal colors. Dorango was reissued in brown and a new red color, but you can tell originals apart by their horns. Reissues' horns are always bent inwards, whereas they should point straight forward in the originals.
