@Fedhai You should just send it to me. You don’t want that hard vinyl tarnishing your collection. I’ll keep her safe.
I received mine today also. I didn't have any issue getting the head in. You need to tilt the neck in an angle before you start sliding in the neck.
That and it looks like in the demo video he twists and pivots it. That being said....I'd personally just leave it up or down rather then run the risk. Such an awesome toy.
After making this thread and crossing my fingers, I got lucky and won the Rokuro What a special toy! The styling is top-notch with a combination of sparse free sprays over her robe details, and soft lines between the brushed/masked applications that give her that vintage character doll feel. The hair either uses a different kind of paint or was coated separately, as where most of the toy is matte, her hair is a brilliant high gloss. As for the neck gimmick, bringing it down the first time took some gentle pushing, but since then it's been smooth. I should point out that the neck locks in the fully extended position, probably through a plug hidden inside the body. So if you don't want to force anything, you can pull the neck up and then leave it short of fully locked. Otherwise I was a bit surprised to receive a toy with a "Japan" sticker on the header and "made in China" stamped on the bottom, but provided the materials hold up I'd call this a credit to the factory that made it. Excellent toy. Photos soon.
The new Rokurokubi that was teased looks fucking topnotch. I actually prefer it to the flesh version and hoping for a standard release.
@bryce_r It looks so ghoulish. And, of course, those mini versions of their existing characters behind that stellar Halloween Frankenstein. That’s the sort of version I’ve been hopin’ for!!!
@zindabad I thought I could make the last photo the cover shot of the post here, but it didn’t work, so I said fuck it. But the redirect is still a good idea, as is showin’ off the Frankenstein. I love that matte finish on this one. Looks like expired ass Halloween candy that no one ever buys, so they just tuck it away and put it back out every Halloween season.
I remember seeing his darumas a while back and liked them but never followed him then i saw his rokurokubi and fell in love. The toys hes made between the daruma and the newest rokurubi are all great. fingers crossed for his new frankenstein
Maruhachi’s Frankenstein is a fun one. What I appreciate a lot about this sculpt is the perceived agony in his face. There’s nothing joyous, malicious, or mischievous. Just sorrow. The tears in the jacket are a fun detail, with the sweater underneath for continuity. The scar on the forehead looks like a thin lightning strike, too. Overall, this is just a fun, statue - esque toy with simple posing and positioning. This particular set of Halloween colors is super fun for the season, too. The jacket/sweater set reminds me of something Ted Bundy would wear. Not necessarily a good thing, just made me think of his stupid turtlenecks. Spoiler I still *very* much want a painted set of the Marman/Vader/Fly, but this blank was made available to me so I took the opportunity. It’s still very fun, and the clear green vinyl is very aquatic and seaweed - y. Though I do wish the arms were articulated the fixed position gives it a goofy, attempted jump scare look, and there is articulation at the neck and hip. The face of Marman is very cartoony to me, in a good way. One step away from a cool Scooby - Doo villain, but more b - movie. More like a cereal box mascot. Despite the smaller size there’s a good amount of detail in the sculpt that makes it undeniably Creature From the Black Lagoon inspired. I can see myself harboring a handful of different versions, but not a ton. Spoiler
@Kerk1 I can totally see that. We had the giant witch head that hung on our front door when I was a kid! A lot of the old Beistle Halloween stuff carried those colors alongside the traditional black and orange!
Took Rokuro out for photos yesterday. Lighting wasn't ideal but I did my best, and played up the dusky look where it fit. Spoiler: More photos Noticed that this toy sold for $600 on YJA recently. As much as I'm glad people are recognising her as a home-run doll, it's frankly more upsetting than anything else. Hold your horses and keep toys affordable
These came out great @zindabad - particularly love that first shot! Great blend of textures between the flowers, fence and her creepy neck.
@Kerk1 Agreed! Though the shot of her lookin’ off into the city is my favorite! Wonderful angle and the lighting kinda tells me a story! The last shot of her peekin’ out of the grass is another awesome one! $600 for this gal is a bit of a stretch, much like her neck, but in this climate of ‘collectors’ feeling the need to catch up and have EVERYTHING in order to stay relevant, I’m not surprised. This was a hard lotto for me to miss out on, but it just didn’t line up. Being it’s only the first release, and the obvious sneak peek Maruhachi posted, there’s obviously goin’ to be more chances.
