Some interesting protoype shots.

 

That makes it look like they wont stand by themselves. I'm on the fence but that would kill it for sure.

 

more i think of it, i think i made something like these in sculpting class.

 

Those protos look horrible.

 

definitely done on a 3D printer you can see the layers. computer aided toys...pfft!!

 

I saw these at TT and they look good, stand well, the smooth finish you expect. I like them just as much as always, but I will say from seeing them in person, I think they're best viewed from the front.

 

ewww...they're FLAT.

 

They stand like any other toy would...and they are not flat at all.

In person these are pretty cool...photos of Lazzerini's work doesn't do his stuff justice, so it makes sense for a toy he worked on as well.

 

any idea on a price & drop date on Kawsone?

One of the few times I've been online for a Kaws drop and the chance to buy at retail and they suck! . . . blech!

 

Picked up a brown (which is now sold out) as the price was right. Already pre-ordered the grey for a little more so I was pretty happy. It's about 15 minutes in, I give the black and grey a few more minutes tops.

 

Same. I got the email, went to the site, looked and debated getting one to see it in hand, but even then I couldn't pick one I "liked."

 

Love the '99's with a passion....wanted to love these too. Ended up only liking (albeit very mildly) the sculpt on the Gray one so went for that.

 

+1 Andy...if i could turn back time, i wouldve be ready when the KvPs had dropped on KawsOne.

 

yeah...me too...i didn't want to buy them just to have them. the novelty of them has worn off on me and i just don't dig 'em.

 

One of the coolest pieces Kaws has put out! Super stocked to see it in person.

 

I certainly think this is the best thing he's done since the Sorayama. Way better than the Vader, S.Trooper, Pinnochio, Tweety, etc. Not as good as Companion, Chum, 5YL. We'll see how it stacks up to Pushead and Dissected.

 

That's really lame that they were 3D printed...I wonder if all of Robert Lazzerini's stuff is.

not exactly sure how much of his stuff is. i would assume he at least makes a model of everything first. i went to the exhibition with knives & it was wood & metal (and could actually cut you)

 

Pretty sure that's just a proto and the toys were actually rotocast and do not exhibit any layering.

 

When I first saw these I was thinking ...damn, awesome sculpt skills. But as Cliff pointed out the protos are 3D printed ( you can tell from the proto he is holding, it just has not been cleaned up.)
Not as stoked on it now.
