Place my order for both today, along with my Restore dudes. I like the yokai influence and backstory, and the rough innocence of these guys. Plus, they are priced really well!
Yeah, the roughness of this guy is great. I love bulky and rocky figures, and he does capture (I would say mostly in the head) some of the traditional yokai non-frightening grostesqueness. I prefer the preview of the Wonderfest version though, personally, so I am holding out in hopes of this guy.
I love it when people who can't sculpt make toys. Sad, I missed out too Also I get an early Le Merde feel to sculpt.
Exactly why I loved this guys. And apart from that rocky look they have I loved the colours he chose for them. Also... Can't sculpt? I can't sculpt. If I made a toy it would look nothing like that.
It's the size of a mini... The pics do make the scale hard to figure out. I got the rocky looking one- I love the paint application and colors. Can't wait to see it in hand!
Totally dig these guys and what Grody Shogun is doing. So much so, I made'em a bootleg promo! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zRsEuXMWEs Enjoy. Can't wait to see what else comes from the Shogun!
For those..not in the know...Exactly what yokai are these? I'm aware of the terminology but are these based on existing mythology? They seem very diy crude. Not that that it is a bad thing but I'm just not sure what these are.
Please don't bring that toy into this thread. I like this toy. One thread for that thing is enough. Bryce- I thought this was just an original yokai by Luke, not based on existing mythology. Could be wrong, though.
