^^ They have been for several years now; pity that new Criterion Designs book isn't part of the sale...
Thanks - unfortunately, I recall their intntl shipping being rather pricey; and to be fair, it IS 28% off at B&N... I just don't have enough money to spend on all the nice things!
Criterion Flash Sale. For the next twenty-four hours at Criterion.com, all in-stock Blu-rays and DVDs will be 50% off the suggested retail price http://www.criterion.com/sale?utm_mediu ... %20Monitor
Just ordered Eraserhead on bluray. I have it on dvd already. I think this will be the version I finally make my wife watch (and see if she divorces me over it ) She said she is game, but I don't think she knows what she is getting herself into.
I can't imagine anyone who watches Eraserhead reluctantly is going to care much for it. Maybe start her on Twin Peaks?
Very true Yuck!!! She's watched episodes of it with me here and there and enjoyed it enough. Fingers crossed!

Just updated my Repo Man to bluray. I love these sales they do. I would have done Naked Lunch but I'm hoping they update the packaging on that one.
Just bought "Eclipse Series 28: The Warped World of Koreyoshi Kurahara." I can't get enough of the Eclipse sets. They're like the best-kept-secret of Criterion. So many buried treasures in there.
Seems like it's been awhile since the last one, but I'm told B&N will start a Criterion 50% off sale July 5th.
Arrow Films are also having a pretty much everything 50% off sale right now - finally had to pick up most of the Bavas and a few other gems.
Thanks @bunnyboy! I've never ordered any of those Arrow films, but man, seems like they actually have quite a nice catalogue. How would you rate the quality on them, something on par with Criterion or Masters of Cinema?
Arrow does a great job with their releases, Steve. Excellent video and sound quality on every disc of theirs that I've been able to check out, and they have a real dedication to quality extras. Their edition of Shivers, my introduction to the company, is the one to beat. EDIT: As if it wasn't already obvious from a quick skim, Arrow's dedication to genre cinema leaves Criterion and MoC squinting in the dust.
@ultrakaiju I somehow never got around to order from them until now, but I've been keeping an eye on their releases for a while and finally had to give in. But like David already confirmed, it appears that their releases are indeed on par with Criterion and MOC; I've read nothing but praise. Search the site for "limited" and you'll be kicking yourself hard...
Thanks guys, there is a lot there I would love to buy. As always, the difficult thing is narrowing down the choices. There are quite a few cult classics I haven't seen mentioned on DVD/BD in some while, if they ever were, so that gets me excited. And oh, those limited editions, you are so right man. FYI - I just received the confirmation email that B&N does indeed have the usual 50% off sale until Aug 1st, which works for US folks anyways. Haha, we need to start a SB movie exchange club - no sense in us all duplicating up on all these titles, just think of the combined library we could have if we put our efforts together!
Thanks to the wonders of Hulu and Criterion....and my girlfriend's knowledge on asian horror, I was finally able to watch House. Crazy bizarre but totally worth the watch. And because of all these dvd discounts everywhere, we may have to pick up!
Next Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion sale will be November 1st - 28th. Good time to get some recent and forthcoming box sets. I went totally nuts for the prior sale and told myself I'd try to be more disciplined for the next one, but ... argh! Really want the Zatoichi series on blu-ray, and the forthcoming Lone Wolf and Cub set is a must-have!
I just realized I still have a shitload of unwatched stuff from the last sales... Recently dove into the Nikkatsu Noir box, I Am Waiting is fucking fantastic. Cool, bleak & stylish to no end; highly recommended, can't wait to check out the rest!
