I love the super detailed posts @deafmetal ! I would totally buy a book (like those classic Japanese “catalogs”) if you ever made one
Marusan Ebirah. I feel this excellent sculpt goes a bit under-appreciated even with the limited articulation at the antennae. I usually see the Marusan examples painted with antennae facing back, and the later Bullmark painted with them facing forward. The gold-painted eyes on the Marusan are difficult to find intact due the paint failing over the years. I have two subtle variants; example on the left has metallic red sprays and heavier silver sprays. Example on the right has matte red sprays. I continue to cast nets for the rare first edition with brown face, blue spine and silver eyes. Spoiler: more photos
My collection of *mostly* bullmark and marusan. I'd say i definitely fell into the rabbit hole, but its been fun collecting these old toys. You can probably take a good guess on what my favorite sculpt is. I wish stuff was a bit more accessible, but i'm grateful for what i've been able to find, and grateful to the board members who have allowed me to adopt a few of these examples. You'll notice i have quite a few gaps. Those are there on purpose, as i've still got several figures to check off my list.
hey Roger, that’s an 80’s flesh boot. The color has aged to a more caramel tone though for some reason.
That is one fine collection and elegant display. Impressive! First pic is and I'm taking notes on the riser and flying stand arrangements. Dull/boring question about those: do you recall what brand the wide risers are? They look significantly thicker and sturdier than the ones I've picked up (from Amazon).
I had the risers custom made by a plastics shop locally. It was more cost effective (still expensive) given the price per due to size and the shipping quotes I’d been getting online.
@brobles - Excellent collection and display, Brian. I enjoy seeing the clean look of the black base and clear risers offset with such colorful monsters. Did you also have the Mothra stand custom made? So much to check out with these photos, thank you.
Thanks Mark! The mothra stand is nothing special. Just a large doll stand. I bought several different sizes years back for a couple of bucks. Anyways you can find them widely available on Amazon or hobby stores.
@brobles Really appreciate those photos. There are so many nice toys I truly love. And I am still chasing for a Kemular, glad to see someone else has much love for the figure as I do hahaha.
Recently I managed to check off a massive want off my list (part of my why buta collection found new homes). Its quite the standout among its peers with that metallic green paint. One day i'll have him side to side with his flesh counterpart.
@brobles - The metallic green jewel. I am very pleased to see this one land in such an excellent collection and home. Of all the toys in the collection, the Hawaiian spray Gojira gets some of the most looks by me as it is just so eye-catching with those shiny colors set against the blue/green vinyl. It is no surprise to see it featured in toy mooks and articles. Also, it is quite difficult to find! Seconding the congratulations.
