That's actually just the activated accounts. We have something like 8,000 unactivated accounts due to spam signups.
Ha, I am sure I can probably account for some of those even, since it took me a coupla years to get activated too. (But then, could be I had always had the same username so it likely reset it all). I know David has a similar tale as well.
In the case of this message board, two step verification is almost certainly overkill. But it's basically where in addition to the first step of logging in with a username and password, there is a second step to verify your identity. For example, I use gmail and have the two-step turned on. When I log in from a device google has not seen me use before, google sends a text to my phone with a code, and I have to enter the code as the second verification step. This is just the first time from that device. That way, if my username and password are compromised, and someone else tries to use them from Russia or wherever, they can't get pass the second step unless they also have my phone and can read the code google sends out. The new forum software does not use your phone number exactly or send a text, because that kind of infrastructure would be kind of expensive. So it uses a different, but similar mechanism. I have no plans to use it here.
A thousand and one thanks for all you do for our community James. The charge of the light brigade is happily upon us.
Many thankies again James! No wonder you're tired See you on the other side Boardies, and don't forget to bring your toys, popcorn, and ice cream with you
Yeah, I think morning/weekday makes sense (not that it makes any difference to me ) Thanks for the update and all your work James. Feel better soon!
Picturing James desperately trying to gnaw at his stitches and being foiled, over and over again by his kitty cone is making me very happy right now, Grace. I thank you. I'm also thankful for Mr. Likeness. He's the lemon in our tea.
Sorry everyone, the database server went down for a few hours this morning. Got it back up and running.
