That's insane @phantomfauna - I think I saw the same listing and dismissed it quickly thinking it was the 1/6 version from a couple of years back. Nice shootin' tex!
A ton of differences. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of anraku toys dipped in price. It'll probably ebb and flow for the next few years.
^ A ton of OG Anraku toys have seriously dipped in price as a result of the preorder deluge. Us hardcore collectors have been having a field day snatching them up . Still elusive as ever though. I similarly picked this one up on the cheap from YJA, compared to yesteryear’s prices. The hype may be long gone, but the quality stays the same! EDIT: That's one dirty, scratched up, effed up lightbox.
Does anyone have any info on the OG clear Orange Goga? Did it come with a "guts insert" and when was it made? I do remember Lord Bemon's famous BBQ post. How could anyone forget that one! (does anyone know why he roasted his Goga? ) Any help greatly appreciated
It did not come with guts inserts. If I recall...at one point super7 had a raffle type sale and one of the options was for the orange goga. Anyway long story short...when the nag hype was starting lord bemon burned it and put it in a bag for "art" as the burnt goga. Original thread below. http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?...nd-der-angora-patio.40057/page-60#post-517598
THANK YOU Bryce! You are super duper awesome! Goodness gravy train! He really set it afire! i had no idea it was burned and sold for "art". Too bad that photo is defunct in the post. I think Lord Bemon is now a mythical character in toy history. Thank you Bryce, I doff my cap to you
I think it was released in 2007. There were a lot of 'customs' produced using the clear orange Goga as it was the most common one at the time. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I haven't seen an unspoiled clear orange Goga in quite a while. I just hope they cleaned that grill real good afterward.
Thank you for that date Daniel! I wonder how many of them were made? I can see how tempting it would be to paint one. It's still a beautiful beast Ha! I completely forgot about the burnt plastics residuals on the grill. Dioxins and furans (amongst other contaminants) are a serious health hazard, and highly carcinogenic https://www.online-sciences.com/hea...tics-and-rubber-on-humans-and-global-warming/ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S187802961630158X
For a while the orange blank Gogas were surfacing quite regularly, but as is custom for this hobby once the hype is gone, many collectors would just assume keep nice toys rather than fire sale them, and then they become even harder to acquire. I have a blank orange Goga with painted guts inserts, I have no idea if the inserts were placed in the toy by Anraku or someone else. I also have a clear blank Goga with painted guts inserts with no idea regarding origin; there are so many questions about the early Goga releases (especially the one offs) that may never get resolved. There are quite a view variations on the painted guts inserts that were used very sparingly in actual runs.
I'm thinking the guts were placed in the clear orange Goga by someone else. From what I remember, the Goga guts were available separately during that time period, and people were inserting them into the clear orange Goga because that's the only one that was clear, but not super rare. The clear blank w/ guts is an older release.
I very well could be wrong, but I thought this pre-dated NNN. I recall it being a Bemon vs Anraku thing, and nothing to do with NNN...because they hadn't even come on the scene yet. At the time Bemon and Anraku were the two heavy-hitters, and Lord Bemon set out to prove he was the heaviest. All hail LORD BEMON!
First posting of LORD BEMON's brutal roasting of Goga, 7/13/2008: http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/no-pinstriping.23079/page-2#post-310685 First post of the NNN thread, 8/6/2009. Also, more than Bemon vs Anraku, it appears LORD BEMON was critiquing "customizers". At the time, the board was quite split on fans painting figures - especially rare figures.
THANK YOU @---NT--- ! Those roasted pics are hilarious and horrifying all at the same time! Pardon my ignorance, but is Lord Bemon the designer of the Bemon (yes, I know stupid questions, please don't pelt me with wet noodles ) ? Too bad he doesn't actively post nowadays, he's hilarious. Also, the history of customizing vs not customizing is an interesting read! Lots of good stuff there. @akum6n do you know if there is a database of Anraku? Very curious about the early OG stuff. @Michael Beverage would it be ok to ask, if you would be willing to post a photo of the clear and the orange Gogas? Thank you people!
LORD BEMON is not the designer of the vinyl figures known as Bemon (or Kougai, if you want to be technical about it, which I don't). The designer is Honda-san, and he is merely a man who may or may not have temporarily housed the entity known as LORD BEMON in his mortal coil whilst giving form to our lord and devastator.
