Welcome home my pretty! Really loving the Arch Usir, it is just such a fun sculpt. I feel like the eyes are staring deep into my soul.
From first being teased over two years ago, to the original sculpt tragically being lost in a fire, to ironically being reborn from just same, Arch Usir has finally arrived. I am an absolute fanatic about Joe’s Secretoy line; Cinema Monster and Krono. But goddamn, I really do have to say, this is, in my opinion, Joe’s finest work to this day. Timeless and perfect. Clearly derived from Joe’s original Usir sculpt, there are incredible elements that just bring the Arch Usir to life on a multitude of levels. The tongue slipping through the teeth of the horns is simply begging for the blood and souls of the innocent and damned alike. The wings, pointed fingers, chubby bellied body, snake tail and hooves, all ring reminiscent of the Baphomet. The expression of Arch Usir has a duality of both playful and malicious. While I don’t think Joe was directly inspired by it, the paints give me a feeling of Bullmark/Marusan Gomora, and I love it. The slight fleshy tones on the palms and snout retain an animal like quality, as to not let Arch Usir escape into full demon identity. And the cloth sack it arrived in, as opposed to the traditional bag and header, is just too fuckin’ cool. I honestly didn’t expect to gush this much over the Arch Usir, but I’m so overly impressed and overjoyed that it’s stricken me this much. My apologies for babble and excessive photo dump. I cannot wait to see what evil resonates in future releases. Phenomenal work, Joe!!! Spoiler
Hey, thanks, Max! On both counts! I love gettin’ people’s thoughts on the toys they love and collect, so I like to at least try for opening a dialogue!
Cool story bro. Seriously though, I love your pics, and I wish I still had the passion you have for these toys.
@useless toys Thank you, Ed! You still collect, you still come out to events, and you’re still cool as shit. I’d say that’s some solid passion! But when it comes to these artists, certain ones in particular for me, I definitely spend more time on highlighting and appreciating. Collecting’s just done so much for me personally, that I feel compelled to put that same energy back out there for it!
Got a lot from Joe today! Not only are there full front and back sofubi reveals of Dokorah and Manduro, but also the first painted versions that will be available at Five Points in June. And as an extra bonus, we have gratuitous close ups of some J.P. Prewitt - esque hands.
@JoeMan My curiosity isn’t being patient enough for Five Points. Are these around the same scale as the Target Earth Golems or Baby Zagoran?
I don’t have a baby Golem, they are a little smaller than the Zag. I never really thought of that Zag as a mini, always seemed a little too big, I don’t know what you would classify it as, if it is a mini, it would be one of the largest minis I have.
these minis are rad. toys are rad. I am always down to talk about toys. but seriously these look great fun sculpts and a great paint app.
Right on! Thank you, Joe! The Golem is about the same size as the Zag, maybe a tad taller. But with this new mini pair being smaller than the Zag, that’s an awesome, awesome mini size. I’m in agreement that the Zag isn’t a mini also. I’m excited to see these in June.
Super lame flip mode! @JoeMan https://www.ebay.com/itm/Splurrt-Ar...124422?hash=item287ca8ba86:g:OdcAAOSwmlZcyYZB
Yeah I saw that yesterday, super lame, and three went to Taiwan so it’s hard to figure out who to ban.
Manduro and Dokorah are a really fun pair. Both paints at Five Points were super tempting but I feel good about going blank, since this means they really can be my go-to pocket monsters Hit the spoiler tag for some more (less blue) photos, including a shot of my first toy from Joe, and my first of Five Points 2018 Spoiler
@zindabad Hell yeah, dude! I have so much shooting and editing to do in the blackbox alone, but I’m excited. Lovin’ this Dokuro pair. I intended for both painted versions, but yellow left quickly! I’m more than happy with the painted black!
These shots are great and there is nothing better then new pocket toys for taking out and about and taking pics with. Joe killed it with these guys.
