Thank you Brent for sharing the photo! Lots of spectacular Butas! My heart melted a little bit, when I saw the PINK Baltan! Just tweaked the color a tad bit (it's still not right, but it's lighter for easier salivating... Photo deserves to be continued on this page:
thanks guys! @Mr. Humphreys that pic is definitely better. I feel the same way everytime I look at that Baltan I'll post some closer shots of the buta shelves for you once I get a lamp.
Current line-up on my fireplace mantle. I have the latest King Smog coming in the next few days so I'll be rearranging this a bit then as well. January 2017 mantle by Doug Hardy, on Flickr
^^^Slight derail, but can you please take a zoom-out shot, showing the whole mantle piece? Love the round curvy retro look and that green paint, a very 50's feel.
Unfortunately I have a kind of dark living room; tomorrow morning I'll take a shot in better light, but you can see the entire top of the mantle a post above the last one I made. The wall is unfortunately bare as the framed picture I had there started slipping in it's mount so I have to have it repaired. Edit: the place I live in was built in 1949; San Francisco's first planned neighborhood.
Actually, never mind, I was able to get a good photo after all. In front of Eiji Tsuburaya is my Fudo Myo statue and they are resting on my departed cat Dexter's ashes. Kaiju Fireplace by Doug Hardy, on Flickr
Ok, thank you! That is beautiful! The reason why I ask, is my carpenter friend works on a lot of houses in upper and lower Pacific Heights. His former boss had him build mantles framing travertine and stone fireplaces. Currently he's doing trim work on a humongous Victorian in the upper Haight. Your domicile must be pretty spiffy. What a great backdrop for neat toys! ...and poor kittee ashes too. Perhaps a few neko toys to add?
Is that the little tuxedo one? That was at a 'garage sale' booth at D Con and I couldn't resist, but I honestly couldn't remember it's name at the time. Edit: Oh it is! Wow that little sailor suit one! I really want one now haha
I waited too long (they were released in 2015), and forgot to adopt them. Yes, there is a Sailor one too--the cap comes off as well! There were three in this series http://www.thetoychronicle.com/news/catophilia-himes-cat-by-hime-x-unbox-industries/ https://www.facebook.com/thecatophilia/
Unfortunately, I can't fit my whole collection into one photograph, I've been collecting for 14 years... This is the new set up in our office in our new home. I have edited out of the Kidrobot toys, I don't want to offend anyone.. Here's the unedited photo... Spoiler
The lights look so great in those cases, especially in the dark. That'd be a pretty nice scene of serenity in an office space. You have really nice symmetry amongst each sculpt with multiple versions.
Thanks man! I appreciate the compliments.. I'm all about symmetry when putting my pieces on display. I think of it as controlled chaos.. I have my lights connected to a Belkin WeMo switch so I can control them remotely, they also switch on every morning at 6 am. It's so nice walking into my dark office every morning and being greeted with so much color and wonderfulness..
So maybe you can all tell...but my room is rather small. Or cosy, if you will. I just moved the collection upstairs to my room after more than a year of the missus 'enjoying' the collection in all its splendor in the front room. It's much nicer having it upstairs by me when I'm at the computer now. It's an absolute nightmare to photograph (with my back right against the wall) and I'm still working on tucking those wires away....
Here's a time lapse video of the set up. What took me several hours is compressed into just under three minutes. Enjoy..
Such a nice case Brent! And Doug I have to say, that bunch of crazy Elegab figures looks incredible together. It's like a different world.
@evom , any chance of seeing a close up of the pink Baltan (he makes my heart go pitter patter ). Were you able to get some lighting? Just think of how nice a mini Owl would go with all those lovely butas!
thanks @quentor ! @Mr. Humphreys sure I could take a closeup next time I mess around with the toys. I'll post it in the mo'buta thread when I do. I didn't get a lamp yet, waiting for a sale at target once I do, I'll get good closeups of the buta and gargamel shelves right away. but I can get a good shot when its just one toy for now. You really want a mini owl huh!! maybe one day Grace!
