Charactics returns!

@Fig Belly Thank you Mr. B! Alas, Jon's comment above makes more sense. Really had high hopes of a Gorilla Plane, but since WonFes won't allow international sales and my boots won't allow me to go to Japan (not yet anyhow), that means we'll be relegated to the pricey after market again . I'd definitely like to see another Globby plane (a kind Boardie fostered out the first version to me!) and even a Randall plane colab. Still dreaming of a goji or mecha goji tank, but those originals are too pricey now. Let's hope that Charactics will fulfill our hopes and sell to us Westerners directly!

 

@Mr. Humphreys I saw he explained on IG that this is purely due to the licensed restriction, I am not sure if this would change in the future. If we could only get his godzilla, matango or hedorah by second-hand market, we'll indeed lose some fun of collection.

 

As psyched as I am for Charactics to be back, I am not looking forward to the YJA auctions after Wonder Fest (and neither is my wallet).

 

Thank you @Kirara . Adopting Charactics second hand is not only a loss of some fun, but no doubt a lot of after-market money! I think the after market trend of the OG tanks and planes were +$800 on JYA (sometimes a lot more). It will be interesting to see how prices on these new releases will fare. I was hoping that the new releases would be more affordable for us in the West. Hopefully they'll be able to sell online direct, in the future.

Drat and double, triple drats! So many cute toys are "Japan Only" on Wonfes. I love that GID cat and red-eye toy, Cavil and Movil ( see WonderPig Toys on IG)

 

I totally agree with you. I think at least in the short term, the after market price will be crazy for sure, for there will be tons of rich newbies who might not know this brand before, now are ready to throw their money at it.

I found the same thing goes for Zollmen as well. Since Zollmen became active on IG and launched a lot of new issues this year, I saw a big price spike on after market. Some Fancy toys ended at incredibly high price on YJA, a 70000 yen Robin with damaged teeth was sold out on Mandarake recently, and not to mention the general price spike of Zollmen's products back in my country China. Now there are really too many blind followers, some of them might hold the belief that if they spend more money to prove their "love and support", then they will win the lottery some day.

But fortunately Charactics claimed on his yesterday post this kind of "showing love" doesn't work out for him. His lotto is and will be a truly fair game. So if he solve the oversea shipping problem, and if we had the patience, we'll definitely have a chance in the future.

BTW, I didn't get the chance to say this before. I am very lucky winning his Monkey Fighters, 60 out of 1000 applications! I love monkeys and planes, so this is really an amazing toy for me. And I feel even more excited about it, because this is actually the first time I win a lotto on IG, which does mean a lot for me.

 

Yeah, and the rocking chair hedorah, pretty cool ...

Anybody try for the recent drop at Treasure Fest Online? Absolute mess, but there were some really beautiful toys on show. The Godzilla tank is probably my favourite of that sculpt to date.

As terrible as it was I think the system has gotten progressively better every show… or maybe I’ve just learned to work around the kinks.

With a bit of effort I was able to snag the Godzilla tank, the Mechagodzilla fighter, and the rocking Hedorah. Really stoked for these to arrive!

 

Hell yes! I got lucky with a few things as well, but I worry there was some kind of stock bug. I'm not going to believe it until the packages are shipped. Funnily enough the rocking Hedorah was the only thing from my list that I missed, but at some point I'll trade my way to one. Massive congrats!

 

Oh awesome, congrats! I’ve often had to run through the checkout process 4-5 times before payment finally clears. The server seems to get bogged down and fails frequently. As long as you got an e-mail receipt you should be good. You can also check purchase history in your account to verify.

For anyone new to the TFO system it’s easy to assume everything sells out in a matter of seconds, but inventory goes back up once in a while so you might get lucky if you keep reloading (gotta be quick though!). I’m not sure if people are just dropping stuff from their carts or vendors add stock sporadically to make things a bit more fair. I like that Charactics set their timer to 15 minutes. No need to let people hold things in their cart hostage for 30 minutes to an hour. Most everything is eligible for bulk shipping so you can always check out then go back and try again for anything else you might want without racking up multiple shipping charges.

 

I’m glad there’s still hope for those outside Japan! I just completely missed that there would be an online release and assumed everything shown was for an in person event

 

It's a grey area. The event will accept international cards and ship to forwarding addresses, but no official international sales. I thought twice before putting the info up here but honestly, many people are already trying internationally and the more licensed toys go to fans and not scalpers on the rare occasions when we do have a shot, the better.

 

Loving the new rocking chair Hedorah for upcoming WonFes. Those colors... beauteous. Sad that there will likely be no option to grab one other than secondary market or outrageous middleman prices...

Super tempted ahhh the GID vinyl is what’s pulling me closer to that preorder button

 

I have a question regarding the tanks and planes: Does it only come with the top, visible torso of the kaiju or is the bottom torso also included?

 

I only have the Bwana Globby in a Plane, and that came with legs for the pilot. I think all the Gargamel collabs came with legs. Not sure about the Godzilla and other Toho.
