anybody got 2 Bemons or more? My Red Bemon phase 2 is somewhat smaller than my GID Bemon. both are stamped and come with header/numbered. And I have put in the same stance laid them back to back etc but no matter the red guy measures up a little short!!
Hmm interesting, looks like the reds legs might be caving in a little. Did you try to heat up it’s legs pull them back out to shape and let them cool.
Ha Ha. No Sir, I never heated up anybodys legs let alone a toy that cost over a thousand dollars. Interesting observation.
It's a perfectly safe practice. That's how they're assembled to begin with. A hair dryer should suffice, but I wouldn't bother unless it's having issues standing securely in place or it begins to get worse over time.
It’s entirely possible that the upper weight of the figure is compressing the legs over time, causing it to slum down. Lookin’ at these two side by side, though, it looks like the GID rub version is overall bigger proportionally to my eyes. The arms, head, legs and feet all look slightly bigger on the GID version. Almost makes me wonder if it was re - molded and re - pulled at some point. Unless the GID version is just slightly closer to the camera and I’m playin’ tricks on myself.
Proportionally they seem to be of same size, but I noticed head on GID rub not tight to the seam like Big Red.
Right on. I appreciate you goin’ out of your way for the visual comparison! Does seem like it’s just the legs gettin’ smushed down by weight. Lay it flat and hold a hairdryer on high heat about six inches away until the vinyl is squishy as hell. This should return it to original pulled form, and then leave it to cool for a few hours!
As explained to me long ago by Velocitron when he was making toys. Vinyl isn't an exact science. I've seen slighly different shaped pieces that all come from the same mold. The vinyl can be stretched as it's pulled out of the mold. While coming from different molds is a possibility, there is also just the possibility that they all came from the same mold and the glow came out a little more stretched. As for the joints, Japanese joints, especially neck pieces are extremely measured (for better or worse) just pulling the vinyl a little thinner than the joint was engineered, or your knife cutting down into the vinyl, instead of staying flat to the base of the joint can make the hole a tiny larger and cause a looser joint. You'd think for the prices paid for some of this stuff, the engineering would be 100% reliable, but it's not the case with soft vinyl.
Found a fantastic video of the famously reclusive sculptor giving an interview with a friend. Translated, too!
hmmm I don't see a link to video of reclusive sculptor. I clicked on your highlighted video and the Little River Band showed up instead of Bemon.
It was suggested that I put them both on a scale which I did. GID Bemon phase 13 weighed in at just 1 pound. The Big Red Bemon came in just a hair under the 1 pound. Thanks everyone for ahem "weighing in".
Did the Mixed parts Bemon original release ever come with mixed GID parts? The picture of the mixed parts release in FRONT END magazine does not show any GID parts. Wondering if BEMON has released another Mixed parts run?
He just released a root beer clear blank last month. The clear green, red GID pink and clear purple were also late 2021 releases.
and this other mixed parts too! As much as I like the clear versions I just can't bid thinking as soon as I do, a vintage painted will show up. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/j...HMQcSKPourbQSwR07AjgFd7CyrGC132ewgdCv7UmPG6No
Is the year 2021 the first year in a long time that Bemon has started making new releases or is has he been releasing previously?
@JungleGeorge April of 2019 was the first I saw and brought to here the resurgence of the 2HBemon. It was flesh vinyl base with simple black sprays on the legs.
As plain as that 2019 release is, I wouldn't mind owning one. I like the clear colored blanks that came out 2021, the purple sold especially high and the current Root Beer guy is nearing 1k. this is the link to the OUT OF STOCK fleshy guy you mentioned. Like I said, its pretty sweet in its simplicity IMO. https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order...yCode=200104&keyword=two headed giant&lang=en
I’m familiar with the flesh painted 2HBemon! I posted some YJA auction photos here somewhat recently in 2019. Out of all the clears, though, the purple is definitely the most striking. Lots of clear green blanks popped up, too. A nice, deep rainy day clear blue would be rad.
