Hey Super7 what ever happened to release days? Those were the best, everybody getting to the shop early, shooting the shit in the cold and fog waiting to get in, rushing in to get toy-x and discuss, checking out every nook and cranny for treasures and spending more money than expected and lunch with a bunch of other toy freaks. And all the folks at home waiting for the crowd at the shop to satiate their needs before the release was put online.

Those were some of the best toy times ever and although I don't live close enough to attend anymore the buzz on the board and the reports afterward were a lot of fun.

    yes... the very best Saturdays.

freaking my wife up by waking up super early on a Sat to go wait for S7 to open up.
Cold-ass mornings pulling up and seeing Aaron and Shannon with fold-out chairs and sleeping bags
Ryan emerging from his car since he drove up the night before
Joe smoking a cigarette wondering why it took me so long to get there.
Latte and a tomato and cream cheese bagel
talking shit until Josh or Alex walked up shaking their heads.

    good times.

Yes. I miss those times as well.
Unfortunately, I only got to take part in a few before they went the way of the Dodo.

What do think we were doing on Saturday release days, using the computer at the store to surf YJA?

I remember the mad rushing speed in which most RxH items sold out whenever they dropped on the S7 website.. it was always exhilirating trying to get the newest chaos into my cart and turbo charge my paypal account before it disappeared into thin air.. never to be seen again..

I am pretty sure we still release figures Saturday mornings, although some of you get the drop early for SSSS, but, a lot of you aren't sweating the product we are making or bringing over to the same degree, so the saturday morning frenzy isn't as much as it used to be. That said, Mongolion, Ooze Bat and GB went pretty fast. It may not be glamorous to make enough quantity so that most of you can actually have the opportunity to buy the product we make before it sells out, and therefore not the "hyped instant sellout" of the day, but you can consistently look at nearly 100% of the product we have ever made, (with a few unforeseen exceptions), it is all worth at the very least what you paid for it, and in a lot of cases more (a lot more). We make toys because we like them, not because they are the trend of the moment, or how much they appreciate in value. Slow and steady, sorry to be a bummer.

Secondly, I thought Saturday morning was just as much an opportunity for community and seeing people you had something in common with, not always just about what you might get there. If that was the case, Saturday would still be worth it whether or not there was a key drop or not.

Lastly, if you have bought into the Mother hype, you have been had. The single most premeditated, artificially stimulated and false market I have ever seen. Don't say I didn't warn you when it unravels. Soon.

no way, I wouldn't touch that thing. If they were anyone else they would be called a scammer and a flipper. Don't believe the hype. You have been played.

Mother/Maza may be hyped but it still is a very interesting figure. I really like it. I'd never pay secondary market prices though, they are insane,

I like the Maza sculpt. Its probably my second favourite after Bemon.

I collect what I like so don't intend to stop, when the bubble bursts I'll just buy them on YJA at a cheaper price.

I tend to not resell (or do it at a loss). Profit is not my motivation as a collector.

I would interpret this as...the makers of Maza (Zollmen) hyped the figure so much, with the intention to flip it on YJA one by one? Is that it?

That's pretty much how I interpreted it as well. I would think this is somewhat similar to when Old Balance had that RxH exclusive Chaos and almost none of them went for sale in the shop and all were flipped by the store owner for significant amounts more on auction sites. But then again that was a shop exclusive, if the actual makers are doing it I'd most likely never buy from them again. Which is a shame because I do own one or two Maza and other things from Zollmen and I do like the work they do but that business practice is unforgivable.
