^Thank you for posting the GID Matango! Wonderful photos and such a beautiful toy! The GID Matango, seems especially hard to find. Lucky you Does anyone have any info on a Moguera Racer? I found the photo in Joe's Flickr (Fiends Ain't Family), and I missed out on an auction to adopt one . The car is unnumbered, and I was wondering if Moguera was a special release? I didn't see him documented in Club Tokyo or any of Steve's photos. Also, does anyone know when the Mu Diver Racer was released? This is the photo that CHRIS (corrected! ) originally found and posted. Special release? Does anyone know what year this version was made? Any help greatly appreciated!
Can't answer any of your questions, Grace, but... WOW! I didn't even know that a M.O.G.U.E.R.A racer existed! What a fun little sculpt.
Whoops! Sorry Chris! I thought it was Ultrakaiju who first posted that photo You know I luv you anyway! And yes David, I was really surprised when I first saw a Moguera Racer pop up
Moguera was never released. From what I can remember, the maker got sick before the license was approved.
THANK YOU Kaiwi! It would have made a wonderful release! Now I know I'm NOT dreaming or eating "special" brownies or anything, but a couple of months ago (actually it was 2/1/14!--photo is gone now ), I distinctly saw an auction for a Moguera Racer. I was going to bid on him, but forgot to . Ohhhhh, I could kick myself now! That makes me wonder if what the seller was listing was a prototype of the Moguera Racer, or were there just a few test pieces released? What a mystery! Many thanks Kaiwi! ...now, does anyone have any info on the release date of the Mu Diver Racer? Pretty please?
Other than being a perfectly composed picture, I LOVE how triumphant the squid looks versus how defeated the goro looks. Just perfect in every way. (Edited due to my damn autocorrect)
Just a followup to Kaiwi's post... This set of racers recently ended on JYA, and one of the drivers was indeed Moguera! This is the second time this year, I've seen Moguera appear on JYA, and my Toy Angel suggests that perhaps Moguera was specially produced for a festival? Still hoping for more info on when he was made? Thank you!
I stole a couple of Dennis' snaps from Summer WF '06: I hate it when a Cher song pops in my head! As long as I'm pilfering from people's Flickr feeds... Here's a recent one that Mr. D. Coffman decided not to share with us yet. Good gang, D!
^Thanks for the help posting. I got lucky paging through some Yahoo auctions. Three or these were in a lot with a bunch of other toys, hopefully more start showing up for me to buy too. Gamera is no longer running laps at my place by himself.
Woo Hoo! Nice photos David! Thanks for finding and sharing them. FYI, from the top, depicted are Series 1, Series 2, and Series EX (3pc set for each series). I started my own database of sorts, and since David asked me about the cream Red King, I found my notes... Nice seeing the actual photos in which the Racers were released. Pardon my ignorance, but is that Mr. Kashimoto-san in the photo? The Racers were popping up like hot cakes for awhile. Glad to hear you were able to adopt some Animator!
Wow, they were originally 7500yen? I guess the prices these days aren't -that- crazy, then. Still way more than I think is reasonable for a mini though.
It's all relative , just think of what those little Butas go for these days . I think the markup today is at least $75 per ride . I remember last year, I lost out on a blue kanegon w/black car. The ending bid was ~35000 JPY for that single racer! I forgot to mention that I saw the Mogura Racers pop up three times so far, this year alone. Curious thing though--seems like there are at least two versions of that Moguera, same gray body but one with red and one with blue splash of paint on the chest.
Excellent eye Grace! I think all the ones I have seen have had the blue chest, but it is very subtle (so could be I am mistaken). Odd that there are two variants out there, if this was just a special festival release. Maybe he was just having fun playing around with different colours, or could be from two different events(?).
I wonder if producers ever think "I'll create subtle variations so completists will have to buy twice as much!"
...er, I have to confess It was actually my Toy Angel who pointed out the listings to me, and he has eyes sharper than a peregrine falcon . He was the one who identified the different colors! I'd still like to know when the Mogueras were released and if they were regular runs or show specials.... I did manage to adopt the blue one, and let the red one go by, because I'm not a completest I often wonder that too, when there are multiple colorways of a toy. While I might spring for more than one of the same sculpt, if the "new" colors are purty, thank goodness I don't have the addiction-bug, where I have to have every single one!
I love all those racing cars n their multiple colorways. Too bad they didn't release anymore. Is there anyone know why the toygraph no longer maintain this line of toy?
Due to very unfortunate health issues with the creator Kajimoto-san, Toygraph is no longer producing any of their toys (and has not, for some time).
OMG. So the production including the website had been suspended for years. This is very unfortunate for the creator and I really wish he could back in good shape and put the racing cars on the track again. They are really nice and I'm still collecting them but they become more n more difficult to score now
