Ooooooooooooooo! Very nice collection there! Thanks for posting the photo and sharing! And... because it's such a nice assemblage, I adjusted the color balance (yes, I did snag that photo for reference, because it's a beauty ) Thank you Spacemonkey66! (^^^This is still Spacemonkey66's photo!) P.S. I love the Sunguts version! I haven't seen that one pop up for adoption, unfortunately
That is an amazing set of racers! Booska, I will find you 1 day. I wish I collected these 3 years ago when they were popping up a lot more often, and a lot more affordable.
They are highly addictive. There is something really tactile about them (esp. the Kanegon), nice size, and love having the body as separate pieces from the car. Yeppers on the price though! https://www.flickr.com/photos/72645...6uV-fYwmbi-nCRVbj-5F49Aj-5EYQHa-cFNC45-cFNCuY https://www.flickr.com/photos/72645...6uV-fYwmbi-nCRVbj-5F49Aj-5EYQHa-cFNC45-cFNCuY .... no, not me http://www.rotofugi.com/toyscart/pc...-and-Kanegon-Black-Set-p5290.htm#.VBtNlWOOp8E

I was trying to keep track of the years of release, and a lot of the photos came from Club Tokyo (please let me know if I should remove this ), and auctions. It's not a database, but a quick and handy reference, and if you have a large-scale graphics plotter, you can plot out a sheet that's over 3 feet long! ***Please, if someone could tell me the year of release for the Mu Diver and Moguera Racers, I'd really appreciate it!
^^^^^ I know. I give Ralph grief every now and then about the Zag database. And I started that kaiju toy book thread a while back that I got lazy with. Ho-hum... Personally I would build one and build off the Zag database if I knew who to turn to about release dates, etc. That's the burden at the end of the day. Compiling it is easy. Gathering the data is a pain in the arse
Well, the Toygraph Racer database would be simple by comparison, because Toygraph toys are no longer made . I think I pretty much have everything in that photo, it just needs to be made more user friendly. Club Tokyo did a wonderful job (he put in the variants and years of release), there were only a few things missing. I made that file because I was trying to keep track of my adoptions, and it's much easier reading off of one sheet. ...anyone got a spare Blue Gezora (squiddie)? I have a spare Hedorah
I'll take one of each, thanks Are all the car sculpts the same? It would be awesome to see these guys in different makes and models, Booska would look great in a 57' Chevy!
All of the car models are the same style, but different colors, and some may or may not have number decals on them. Notice that some of the characters are holding a "steering wheel" (molded into the figure, not a separate piece), while others are doing the, "look Ma! No hands!" approach There are a few figures(?) that come with the bottom torso, supposedly? I've only seen the clear and teal Zegoran Racer with a detachable bottom *Found this pic doing an image search, and I apologize for not crediting the photo if it's yours, but please do say Yay!, if it's yours. **Also, if anyone knows of any other character besides Zegoran, that comes with the bottom portion of the torso, please let us know!
Thanks! you did a super job of improving my photo. It was my version of a photo I downloaded from the original Toygraph website. Here's the original image from the Toygraph website: There were two versions of the Gamera racer but they are barely indistinguishable as the colour variances are ever so subtle.
Very nice! Now, can you please tell me how I can distinguish the two different Gameras? Really curious about that! I had no idea! P.S. I think I like your version better, because the angle and spacing you chose, means that you can see more of their faces.
I know the Suiko car by SUNGUTS is not technically Toygraph, but they used the same mould for the car. It even has the Toygraph text (in Japanese) on the underside of the car. So here's some more images of that version:
Oh! For some reason, I thought you meant there were two versions of the pink car Gamera Toygraph Racer . I haven't seen those Sunguts Racers (to hold in my hands), but I'm curious to adopt one, they are nifty.
Sorry I digressed! Yes, I did mean to say that there were two versions of the pink Gamera racer. I think one was brownish colour (on his head and shell) and the other a purple/brownish colour. Someone may correct me on that but I know there were definitely two very subtle colour variations. FYI: The blue Sunguts racer in my photo was a Hyper Hobby exclusive.
The Booska racer was the first in my racers collection. Here's a section of a painting I did based on it:
Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting!!! Ok, I just checked, my Gamera has a brown head (the one in the office). Looks the same in your version? Although, if they both have a brownish tinge, that might be hard to tell. I think I have a double, so I'll have to check on that one at home. Ok, I'm dying for sleep (only had an hour last night). Will check back when I return home! And thanks for that factoid! P.S. Oh! You're that SpaceMonkey! I remember a series of huge panoramic drawings, those are so whimsical and nice! P.P.S. Just checked your website! Love your drawings! Toy Town, by Martin Harris! Wish I could hang this on my wall! Spectacular! ...sorry for another derail, but there is a Booska in the painting, and I just couldn't help it
Wonderific Vombie! Congratulations! I see you got the EX series set. The other two are nothing to sneeze at
^Your artwork is top notch spacemonkey!! I love "busy" illustrations like this where there is so much going on to keep you entertained. These racers look addictive...think I am just going to try for a Matango to add to my shroom collection and leave it at that.
