    For someone I've never heard of on Skullbrain before, you seem to know plenty about me. Which is a bit creepy. Maybe my first stalker? Sounds like you have a crush on me, which is understandable, because I'm awesome.

    I don't post here or in the garage sales thread just to annoy people but in your case I'm really, really glad I'm annoying you. Whoever the fuck you are.

    But, please feel free to not read any of the threads I post on, and stick to the 'proper' threads you allude to. If you don't like pictures of 'endless trash' the fugly thread is not for you.

    I for one am very happy themoog keeps posting here. This is one of my favorite threads. Looking at all these crazy toys that get made or painted with shit is grrrrrrrrreat! I even own a few of these fugly monsters. I can imagine getting butt hurt if you're an artist, but also, if you're an artist, take some criticism. If you're the type of artist only accepting positive views then you're not going to grow. So, you know, grow up.

    We’d love to see it! Even the classics can be ugly. Some of us intentionally collect ugly toys. This isn’t a “cancel this artist” thread. It’s here for a chuckle.

    This one genuinely baffles me. As long as Javier has been creating sofubi, he has created cute and fun characters. They have been sculpted by his wife in a technically proficient manner, who is talented in her own rights. For me personally, I have enjoyed the paint work on many of his other toys, and own a few too.

    That being said, I'm not sure exactly where Anatomic Wananeko came from. To me, it doesn't fit aesthetically with any of his other sofubi, which I think is something to be considered. When the artist builds a "universe," that all of these characters come from, you want to know that they will sit nicely on a shelf together.

    Phew, scared me for a second. I knew @MiscreationToys does way better than... whatever this is.

    EDIT: I found his Insta, holy hell these paint jobs are even more horrific when you see them in motion. Guy has got to be colorblind, no rational human being would look at those colors and say “oh man, those look GREAT together!”

    As far as I've noticed, his custom one-off's as he calls them are not selling well.
    He looks like he's doing OK with the Creatch figure, but not many people are buying the ruined toys he's responsible for. Which kinda restores my faith in humanity ... briefly.

    The toys remain fucked up either way, sadly.

    i feel like ive asked this one million times but what is a "one-off" and what is a "custom" to y'all? i always thought, one-offs were painted by the toys creator whereas customs were done by another artist.

    @MoonspellxRites
    I personally would consider one artist's paint on another's sculpt a "custom"... and don't see why one can't also be called a "1-off" if it fits the criteria (the only one of its kind/not a run).

    Just my 2 cents (please see current exchange rates for actual value) :razz:

    What’s worse than having someone post your work on here? Being slandered/ accused of making things on here that you didn’t make! Thanks for the correction btw!

    @smurph I think both you and @MoonspellxRites are correct in your assessments. But I’ve personally used the distinction that Manny uses to more or less separate the two. My exception is if it’s a collaborative effort, like my Paul Kaiju one off Cinema Monsters. Those were given to Paul, by Joe, with the intention of being painted as runs or one offs, versus an artist just getting a blank from some form of secondary and painting it as a custom.

    Oh now that’s something!
    After seeing this, I regret all the rainbow vomit paint apps.
    It’s a very specific kind of color blindness if you ask me...

    @xSuicide Squadx
    Good point. Was specifically thinking collabs & show/event 1-offs when saying the 2 terms weren't mutually exclusive.
    In the case of secondary toys painted by a different artist, totally agree that "custom" would be the appropriate term (even if a 1-off by definition).

    I think the same way. Especially when it comes to custom work, I think they like to add "one-off" to help sell the item. "ONLY ONE OF THESE IN THE WORLD" kind of branding.
