I am in Central NJ and went to two supermarkets today. Plenty of toilet paper and Clorox wipes, but zero jalapeno poppers. I'm panicking.

I stocked up on Sam Adams and artichoke dip. This whole virus thing is bogus. I can't wait to go to Disney World in 17 days and just touch everything and then wipe my face.

Do you repurpose the boxes, the bags or the headers (for "wiping", I guess) first (asking for a friend)??

Mandarake ships with packing paper, you can just use that. Just add a little water to soften it up.

I was exposed to someone who was exposed to someone with coronavirus. He exposed everyone in my Ceramics class, but if anyone is potentially getting the virus, it’s going to be me. He sat at my table today and gave me a chunk of his clay, which I of course worked with my hands, and made a pinch pot out of. I can’t remember if I touched my face. The guy left the class at some point, I think he felt like he made a bad choice by going to class... and then security came in, demanded we all wash our hands and face, and get the fuck out. They said we’d hear something from the college later. They finally called maybe half an hour ago, the entire community college is being shut down until the 23rd to be sanitized.
I can’t say a word to my sister, she hasn’t had any mental health intervention for years and she’s become paranoid as hell about the virus. Pretty sure she’d have an aneurysm at the news. :?

Hope you're okay, truly. One of my roommates is so paranoid I think he'd kick me out of the apartment if I started coughing.

I'm less gung-ho about everything after keeping tabs on the events in Italy. There are more risk factors, and the virus targets more parts of the body, than we initially thought. Most healthcare systems and governments around the world are not equipped to deal with this thing. It's already not pretty.

My company is officially on an indefinite work from home schedule as things develop. I'm extremely grateful to be able to do this and can only imagine the impact this will have on those in service/hospitality industries.

Hope everyone is staying well, looking out for one another and stocked up with enough goodies to survive "social distancing".

Ok, darn it! I confess, I did go to Trader Joes and bought up 37 bars of their rose raspberry chocolate bars :oops::oops:

No, not because of the virus, but because they are super yummy, was made for Valentine's Day, and they won't have any more (this year) when they are sold out.

I’m so bummed. Just cancelled my trip to Tokyo 4 days before I was due to fly out. Now I’m out a chunk of change and will be stuck at work next week instead of enjoying coco curry in the best city in the world.

Ouch, I am very sorry to hear that Hannah. I think a lot of people are going to be in that boat, if not already - but it does not make it any better. Currently our company, like a lot of others, is undergoing detailed RAs and prioritisation. I foresee an extended shutdown, or WFH when possible, but yeah, industry at large is going to take a massive hit with this. I can't even imagine what the airlines are going to have to do, especially with the 'targeted lockout.'

My works already gone to WFH so looks like I’ll be at home for at least the next 3 weeks.

I’m surprised to see that toycon U.K. is still going ahead this weekend. Not sure I’d be keen on going along given the circumstances.

My travel plans have been cancelled so I could technically go now as well, but not sure I will or should.

I'm WFH for the rest of the month at least. Markets are pretty busy here in Queens, NY.

Hoping everyone stays safe and healthy.

With LAUSD shutting down the schools my workplace initiated WFH. I already telecom two days a week, now, it's all days a week for three weeks. Also, today was our regular shopping day for Nate and I and as soon as we pulled into Target we noticed A LOT of cars. Nate and I were like uh oh.

The grocery store was even more crowded and this is this morning. People are stocking up on food and supplies. So far, people were calm and taking it with a sense of humor. Not gonna lie, Nate and I bought more than usual but not to the extreme. The meat counter was busy.

The morning radio traffic report was describing freeway backups from people trying to get to Costco, squad cars stationed at Costco parking lot, to prevent "incidents", and no parking anywhere near by. Same for Trader Joes! Everyone is buying up everything! Never seen/heard anything like it before, it leaves me somewhat amazed this is going on across the nation. When people get off of work this Friday afternoon (Friday the 13th  ) who knows what will happen, and Sat. and Sun. shopping will be crazy for sure (if there's anything left!).

Real Time Traffic as of "now" . Black line shows a total stoppage on the freeway traffic, trying to get to Target, Walmart, and Home Depot

This are getting stupid out here in the Boston area.
My work has everyone on WFH until the end of the month. Same thing with my wife's work. This morning the kids' school said that school will be closed until the end of the month as well.
I had to go out for an appointment earlier, and was surprised by 1 - how few cars were on the road and 2 - that every car that was one road was driven by an absolute fucking idiot.

Took the day off just because of feeling tire, slight headache, shoulders a bit achy. I'd rather work. I can't do the 2 month home lock down!

So I am still wondering, quite honestly, why the organisers of ToyconUK have not posted anything about Covid-19. Not trying to be reactionary at all, but it would give me some confidence to know that they are considering it, at the very least, and ideally even taking precautions to mitigate risk to attendees. I could theoretically attend - though still not sure there is anything of great note there in terms of my interest/non-designer/western vinyl - but doing so obviously is at risk as any large gathering, and more so for people who have traveled internationally. No updates of any kind, other than just retweeting other people products, seems really irresponsible. This is also telling me indirectly about the priorities of the organisers, another notch against it.

At this point it's pretty clear to me that it's not so much the virus that is to fear, but humanity's penchant for selfishness, greed and general fucking stupidity. No huge surprise there - still baffled by the number of public venues/people organizing public events that are obviously primarily concerned with their precious $$$ instead of slowing the curve. I'm just glad I have a great excuse for self-isolating even more!

I don't know if the people who have not yet cancelled their events are just getting bad info from somewhere, or if they just haven't put "two-and-two together." The attitude I'm seeing from almost everyone around me, in Alabama, is "If I don't know somebody who's infected, I probably shouldn't worry." When, if we believe the info that has come out so far, the attitude should be more along the lines of "If I know somebody who's infected, I might already be infected," or "If I know 100 people who are infected, between 1 - 6 of them will probably die."

I get to work from home, fortunately, but we're getting pressure from family to go to weddings and other family events. We just can't. My wife is taking immune system suppressant meds for another condition, so she's wide open to this thing.

@Smotemotem If it's any consolation, people over here (Germany) are just as fucking dumb. Not sure what's there not to understand about
    • highly infectious
    • incubation period 2-14 days
    • infected & sick may be symptom-free
